Marvel Entertainment shared on Wednesday that they will be soon releasing a documentary on Disney+ about Stan Lee in 2023. A 25-second video with the caption "100 years of dreaming, 100 years of creating, 100 years of Stan Lee" was used to announce the news. Stan Lee, an Original documentary, will be accessible on Disney+ in 2023, as stated in the caption. The pronouncement happens to coincide with the late marvel comic creator's 100th birthday.
The video includes a sneak peek of the late comic creator's smaller roles and cameo appearances in film, as well as a celebration montage that concludes with a progressive zoom-out that uncovers an illustration of the multi-talented creator. The late comic creator Stan Lee is well-known for creating iconic characters such as the Hulk, Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Nick Fury, The Avengers, the X-Men, and others while collaborating with fellow writer-artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Stan Lee remained involved with Marvel after stepping down in the 1990s, with guest appearances and executive producer titles on Marvel productions.
Genius Brands International launched a new eCommerce website earlier this year with three unique Stan Lee-branded collections. The Stan Lee Centennial Collection from Genius Brands includes three Stan Lee collections: Stan Lee Retro, Stan Lee Comic and Stan Lee Centennial, with extra product categories set to launch in 2023. The media company owns the rights to Stan Lee's title, speech, similarities, sign, and intellectual property licensing, and has agreed to co-executive produce the "Stan Lee" docudrama.
Andy Heyward, Chairman, and CEO of Genius Brands said in a statement that they are thrilled to celebrate Stan Lee's 100th birthday with multiple initiatives that pay tribute to the true cultural icon starting with creating a marketplace for his fans and with an opportunity to tell his incredibly fascinating story in the upcoming documentary. Stan Lee's official Twitter page also posted a video and wrote in the caption that 100 years ago, Stan Lee was born in New York City and over the last century, his work happened to change the popular culture, and scenery and has did manage to impact millions. POW! Entertainment which operates Stan Lee's account also asserted that at the Los Angeles Comic-Con, fans left messages for Stan Lee's 100th anniversary, mentioning that he had been an inspiration, legend, and hero, among other things.
In 1939, Stan Lee started working for Timely Comics, Marvel's predecessor. He made progress from interim to editor over the next several decades. He served as a writer and editor-in-chief for Marvel Comics in the 1960s before even being named publisher in 1972. He ultimately became the company's face and motivation for comic-book fans from all over the world. Throughout his career, Lee made multiple cameos in Marvel film and television projects.
Guardians of the Galaxy director and now co-chairman of DC Studios, James Gunn tweeted a couple of pictures with the late comic creator and a message that read happy 100th birthday to Stan Lee and added that he is being missed.
No details about the documentary have been given yet, but it is expected to include exclusive interviews with MCU stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, and others to share stories about one‘s work experience with Stan Lee.
Stan Lee passed away on November 12th, 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a month before his 96th birthday. Disney CEO Bob Iger said following the death of the comic creator that Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created and a superhero in his own right to the Marvel fans around the world. Bon concluded by saying that the late comic creator had the power to inspire, entertain and connect with the fans, and his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart.
