Matthew Perry reveals his proud moment on Friends.

Matthew Perry’s memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, recently came out, and he set off on his book tour, starting in New York City, which was moderated by Jess Cagle.

During the conversation, Matthew Perry was asked about his proudest moment on Friends, to which he replied that it was the response the show got in the wake of 9/11. Matthew Perry explained that they were getting about 30 million viewers a week, and after the horrific and sad events of 9/11 happened, the show’s rating went up about three million, which means that 33 people were watching their sitcom. The actor said that it went back down, but during that period, he believes that people watched the show for comfort, and it was one of his proudest moments while working on Friends.

The actor was asked about his favorite guest star on the show, to which he said that it was Sean Penn, who appeared in season 8 as Eric, Ursula’s finance, and he added that unfortunately, in that episode, he had to dress up as a pink bunny rabbit as it was a Halloween-themed episode. He also added that there were many great guest stars on the show.

Matthew Perry also admitted that he felt nothing after the Friends shoot concluded because he was emotionally numb and high on opiates. It was January 23, 2004, he writes and the keys on the counter, a man who resembled Chandler Bing asked, 'Where?' Matthew continued that 'Embryonic Journey' by Jefferson Airplane played, and the camera slowly panned to the back of the apartment door, and Ben, their first AD, and very close friend, shouted for the final time, 'That's a wrap,' and tears poured from almost everyone's eyes like geysers.

Everyone else was crying, but the actor felt nothing, and he couldn't tell if it was because of the opioid buprenorphine he was taking, or if he was just dead inside. Though he began taking buprenorphine as a "detox medication," he had been on the surprisingly hard drug for 8 months at that point. He remembered, so rather than crying, he took a slow walk around the stage with my then-girlfriend, Rachel, stage 24 at Warner Bros. in Burbank, and the cast members exchanged their various farewells, going to agree to meet up again soon in the manner in which individuals do when they recognize that it wasn't true, and then they headed out to his car.

Matthew Perry claims that he fell in love with his Sydney co-star Valerie Bertinelli while they were filming the movie. The actress was married to Eddie Van Halen at the time. He recounts being at the couple's house and making out with Valerie Bertinelli while Eddie Van Halen was passed out from drinking. Despite their interactions, the two never officially started dating, as he notes that Valerie did not mention what occurred the next day on set, and he instantly got the hint and performed the role he was supposed to, but on the inside he was heartbroken.

During a GQ interview, Matthew Perry stated that the deeply personal, occasionally tragic story is not "for" his former co-stars and that the majority of them have not read the book. He also stated that he does not believe they will read it, asking why they would. The actor replied, "I don't know," because, you know, who cares? Addicts will be interested, and Friends fans will be interested. However, the cast will be unconcerned about something like this. Matthew Perry did clarify that one member of the cast, Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe, wrote the introduction to the book. She stated in the introduction that this was the first time she had heard about living with and surviving his addiction.

According to Matthew Perry, the book's success means that there is already talk of making it into a film. Should the film be made, Matthew Perry stated that he would like to play himself in the present day and that he already knew who would play him in his youth. The actor joked that Zac Efron did it once referring to the 2009 movie 17 Again where Zac Efron who played the character of teen Matthew Perry.

According to a Friends insider, everyone has been very respectful of Matthew, having shared his story. It was never going to be about their lives; it would always going to be about his addiction journey, and he made sure they understood that before he told them.
