Megan Fox talks about being labeled as a sex symbol and the hardships she faced while voicing her discomfort with it in her recent appearance on the Glamour’s April cover story. She also talks about her relationship with now-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly, her psychological breakdowns, her complicated relationship with the feminists, and rejections.

Megan Fox was instantly seen as a sex symbol by the industry, media, and the public as soon as she appeared in the movies and her good looks made it easy for makers to objectify her. Her breakout movie, Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen, in 2004 with Lindsay Lohan, contributed a lot to it. The actress, who is famously known for her character in Diablo Cody’s cult horror movie, "Jennifer’s Body," released in 2009, spoke about how she was being sexualized and objectified by the industry and the audience because of which she endured some genuinely harrowing experiences in a industry which is ruthlessly misogynistic.

During the interview, Megan talks and explains that she was ahead of the #MeToo movement by almost a decade because she was speaking against some of the abusive, misogynistic, and patriarchal things that were happening in the industry at the time (mainly 2008-2009). She added that this was way before people were ready to embrace that or even tolerate it, and she got ridiculed for speaking out. She discussed how she tried to keep herself as far away from the public eye as possible while focusing on her family, and how she believes her psychological breakdown was caused by being constantly dehumanized, criticized, and judged.

One of her first roles in Hollywood was in Bad Boys II which came out in 2003 and because she was 15 at the time and could not appear in a bar, she had to dance in a bikini, cowboy hat, and high heels under a waterfall.

Megan Fox worked on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with Michael Bay, but continued to speak out about misogyny in general before having a "psychological breakdown" and withdrawing from the spotlight due to widespread objectification in the media, industry, and the internet. She shared that she was not allowed to be a human at the time because she was the topic of the conversation, gossip, and punchlines that is why she stayed away from the limelight.

Megan added that when the entire world is sort of negatively thinking about you or has negative thoughts and intentions towards you, you sit back and think about it, and added that she does not have boundaries and walls for that because she is still a human and she is fragile. Megan pointed out that people do not realize that the world has reached a place where people grasp that bullying is bad and can lead to suicide, self-hatred, and whatnot, but when it comes to celebrities, all of that is thrown out of the window and the entire world is down there spending their time trying to bully celebrities.

Megan Fox identifies as a feminist but has a complicated relationship with feminism and shared that she has not yet been included in the feminist community and still thinks that it’s tricky in an awful way. Megan explained that whatever she provokes in them is not something the feminist can digest, so it backfires on her, and she is not a sympathetic victim. The actress added that being free and having fun with who she is and with her personality is very provocative for people. Megan mentioned that she feels that her intelligence is not acknowledged and sometimes she feels that she wastes her energy on giving to people who do not understand or appreciate her.

The actress mentioned an incident that took place at the MTV Video Music Awards where she dressed up in a Mugler dress and said she called her boyfriend, now fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly, "Daddy" and shared that a lot of people were upset about it, which she finds very funny because allowing a women to be who she wants to be, what she likes and letting her embrace herself is what feminism is to her.

The twin flame couple announced their engagement in January 2022 and Megan’s caption raised a lot of eyebrows as she mentioned, "... and then we drank each other’s blood." About that, Megan added that to  clarify it's just a few drops of each other’s blood which they drink on occasion for ritual purposes only and not like everyday. She stated that she reads tarot cards, is interested in astrology, and engages in other metaphysical activities and meditation, thus she performs rituals on new and full moons and that a few drops of blood are OK.

Megan Fox stated that she strongly believes that MGK is the physical sort of person she has been manifesting since she was four years old and that she believes she created him as her intentions and thoughts shaped him into the guy he is now, and she is just lucky to have found him.

On asking about why she thinks that the world is so obsessed with the notion of an "it couple" and what she thinks about the comparisons of her relationship with iconic lovers, Megan went on to say that she believes Pam and Tommy were twin flames, and Kurt and Courtney were a darker version of the same thing. She added that when people find people that come together whose souls have known each other and traveled to do this again, there is something undeniable about that which can provoke both positive and negative feelings in people.
