Nayte Olukoya gets candid about the reason why he and Michelle Young did not work out.
The Bachelorette alum, Nayte Olukoya, who appeared on The Viall Files, admitted that even though it was a dick move, he broke up with Michelle Young over a phone call after things weren’t as happy and smooth in their relationship as they thought they would be. He also mentioned that when they broke up, it was not the first time they were thinking or talking about going their separate ways, it was maybe third he said.
Nayte Olukoya also shared with Nick Viall that trust played a role in his breakup with Michelle Young and said that there was some sense of insecurity in the relationship, which played a huge part in their relationship. He added that he recalls a moment where he started to question everything that was happening around him because it was all very confusing for him, and that just led to some trust issues on his part too.
At that moment, Nick Viall pressed Nayte Olukoya to share that moment, and he said that he happened to see the former teacher DMing a very famous country music singer, and while his thought was that it would be harmless, the next time he looked, according to him, Michelle Young had deleted the whole thread, which made him wonder about what was going on, and at that moment, he felt confused and started to question everything.
Nayte Olukoya said that the story Michelle Young gave as a reason to delete the thread was that it made her feel uncomfortable. She added that the very famous country singer wanted to have drinks with her and Nayte asked her about what led to him asking her out. Nayte mentioned that the singer and Michelle had already met because of her friend when they went to his concert because he invited her to Minnesota and she was backstage. On asking what led to him asking her to get drinks, Michelle said that they were going to play basketball, her friends and his friends.
Nayte further asked Michelle what exactly in that conversation did the singer say that made her feel uncomfortable, to which she said that the suggestion of the drinks did, and Nayte asked her again how she was sure that he meant just the two of them, and eventually Nayte asked Michelle to call up a friend she had been to the concert with to verify the story, and when she started explaining to her friend, the friend from the other end said that she had no idea what Michelle was talking about.
Nayte continued that he dropped the conversation then and there as he did not know what to think or say and mentioned that Michelle Young apologized to him for making him feel like he could not trust her and said that he had nothing to worry about and the former couple never spoke about it ever again, which, according to Nayte, is a red flag in a relationship. Communication is the key, eh?
He added that she did apologize and made sure that he knew that there was nothing to worry about, but the fact that Michelle Young deleted the entire chat thread made him wonder if maybe there was something to be concerned about. Nayte said that she is trustworthy and he does trust her, but at that moment he did not, and trust plays a big role in a relationship, and it was not a very nice thing to feel.
Nayte, in his conversation, said that their post-breakup scenario was messy for the couple and the communication was cut off in mid-July. He also mentioned that even though it was a tough decision for him to make, it was the right thing for them to do. The former couple got engaged at the finale episode of The Bachelorette.
