Ncuti Gatwa is the new Doctor Who!

Ncuti Gatwa, of Sex Education fame, has been announced as the new Doctor Who lead after Jodie Whittaker steps down as the Doctor after three seasons. BBC confirmed the news of Ncuti Gatwa being the 14th Doctor in the series which is highly appreciated and loved by the audience as well as the critics.

Ncuti Gatwa is not only going to be the leader of the show, but he is going to be the first black lead actor on the show, "Doctor Who", in 59 years of the history of the show. Jodie Whittaker was the first female star to play the iconic character and will be leaving the show after three seasons and will be replaced by Ncuti Gatwa as the new doctor. Jodie’s final episode is expected to premiere at the end of this year, which will coincide with the 100thanniversary of the BBC.

In a press release, Ncuti Gatwa shared that he is still trying to process all of it and finds it very hard to describe how he feels. He added that of course, he is excited, honored, and thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show, but he is also a bit scared as some great actors have played the character that he is going to play. Ncuti added that the role and show mean so much to him and the people across the world, and he just wishes that he’d be able to do justice to the character.

He said that he was incredibly delighted to see his incredibly talented predecessors play the iconic role in the best way they could with so much care and respect, and he wishes to do the same when his time comes and added that, unlike the Doctor, he only has one heart and he is going to give all of that to this character and the show. Ncuti went ahead to appreciate Russell T. Davies, who has been an incredibly essential part of the show since 2005 and will be returning as the showrunner in the new series.

The Sex Education actor described show runner Russell T. Davies as an icon just like the Doctor's character are on the show, and he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with him, calling it a dream that he can see coming true. Russell's writing is dynamic, exhilarating, very brilliant, and brimming with danger, according to the actor, which is a figurative playground for actors. Talking to Russell T. Davies about Ncuti Gatwa, sometimes the showrunner said, talent walks through the door who is so bright, bold, and brilliant that he steps back in amazement of them, and due to his lucky stars, he gets to work with them.

Russell went on to say that Ncuti Gatwa astonished them, grabbing the Doctor and claiming the TARDIS keys in a matter of seconds, and promising the audience and fans of the show that 2023 would be fantastic. He also stated that he realizes that fans are eager to learn more, but that the cast and crew are reserving their information for the time being, since the beautiful Jodie's dramatic climax is still to air.

Ncuti Gatwa comes across as a striking and courageous young actor who is bright and enthusiastic, according to Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer at Doctor Who, and his talent and energy will set the world alight and take the Doctor Who show on fantastic adventures. Ncuti Gatwa rose to fame with his role as Eric Effiong in Netflix’s Sex Education and is also going to star in "Barbie" alongside Margot Robbie. The audience and fans of the show have reacted with open hearts and appreciated the makers for choosing Ncuti Gatwa as the 14th Doctor as they believe that the actor has a lot of potential and he is definitely going to leave a legacy just like his predecessors.

Congratulations Ncuti Gatwa
