Netflix deals with Roald Dahl Story Company, claims right on authors book

Netflix made an important announcement on Tuesday, that is 21st September, 2021. It revealed about its deal with Roald Dahl Story Company that let it acquire all the rights over the works of the acclaimed writer namely, Roald Dahl.  

The OTT giant, Netflix claims that it has bought the Roald Dahl Story which is the family firm to the late author's copyrights. 

The streaming platform signed a deal with the company in 2018 to create animated movies or series based up on the 16 books of Dahl. It announced the news of the two pre-eminent companies joining together on its Twitter page that was captioned as,

"Excited to announce that the Roald Dahl Story Company (RDSC) and Netflix are joining forces to bring some of the world's most-loved stories to current and future fans in creative new ways. “We are now about to visit the marvelous places and see the most wonderful things.”

For those who are not much aware of this eminent author, let me quench your thirst for curiosity.

Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos, its managing director Luke Kelly and Dahl's grandson, said in a joint statement that this acquisition is building up on the two companies' partnership that was started three years back. This deal shall be marked as the biggest acquisition deal for Netflix in a decade! That makes the news even more huge.

Amidst the news of the deal, there is another news that is spreading fast that is Netflix Inc. will soon take hold of the works of "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" by author Roald Dahl, as per the reports of Tuesday by Bloomberg News.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a quite renowned name, a movie on the same was made earlier way back in 2005 based up on the writing of the British author Roald Dahl. The film was a huge hit starring Johnny Depp and is still streamed on Netflix.

Sources say that the upcoming days might witness another significant news regarding Netflix which is set to acquire the ownership of popular Children's classics, namely Matilda, The BFG and The Twits.

Undoubtedly, Netflix is one of the biggest streaming service that even proved the same at the Emmys 2021 by acquiring the highest number of wins for the very first time. It even stood before HBO or HBO Max for the very first time in its history by getting 44 wins at the esteemed award function.

Yet, owning acquisition rights is something that Netflix rarely indulges in but with the hold over all acquisitions of the famous British author, Late Roald Dahl, it has out shown its level!
