Nick Carter countersues his accusers.

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, who was accused of sexual assault, is now striking back legally against the alleged accusation, deciding to countersue the accusers, claiming extortion and defamation. The lawsuit was filed in Clark County, Nevada

Shannon Ruth and Melissa Schuman, two women identified who accused Nick Carter of sexually assaulting them more than 15 years ago are now facing lawsuits as Nick Carter has selected the legal route to fight them. The countersuit claims that both women are exploiting the #Metoo campaign and have used it to launch a five-year conspiracy to defame and vilify Nick Carter.

According to the countersuit, both women, Shannon Ruth, and Melissa Schuman wanted to ruin Nick Carter's reputation to gain attention and fame and/or extort money from him. According to the countersuit, Melissa Schuman and Shannon Ruth are just opportunists who are out to destroy innocent lives which has cost Nick Carter and the Backstreet Boys more than $2.3 million in business losses since the allegations were made public as after the allegations were made public, ABC decided to cancel their scheduled plan to air Backstreet Boys holiday special, "A Very Backstreet Holiday."

Nick Carter claims that Melissa Schuman and her father, Jerome Schuman, mentored and guided an autistic Shannon Ruth to inflate her original claims of being abused by a third party rather than make it about him. The singer also stated that he hasn't been charged criminally with any of the alleged crimes. In the countersuit, his attorney stated that Nick Carter made no agreement offers and declined to negotiate with Melissa Schuman or Shannon Ruth, even when they specifically asked for a "low-ball offer." They then assert that Melissa Schuman, Shannon Ruth, and Jerome's false and misleading campaign continued to escalate into accusations of cover-ups and victim bullying against Nick Carter and others.

Both women were also accused of preying on Nick Carter's late brother Aaron Carter, claiming that they used Aaron's fragile situation and family stress and strain to camouflage their false and misleading campaign with credibility, tirelessly and repetitively using Aaron to try to validate their frivolous tales. As our counterclaim sets out in detail, Nick has been the target of a suspicious and long-running conspiracy and has continued that he has never done the ridiculous things of which he has been accused; in fact, he is the victim of a premeditated and concerted campaign of misinformation designed to destroy his reputation Nick's attorney, Michael Holtz shares. The singer now looks forward to setting out the truth, vindicating himself in court, and putting an end to the smears and attempted shakedowns for good.

In response, Shannon Ruth's attorney, Mark J. Boskovich, tells Page Six exclusively that why should people or the law believe Nick Carter who has a long history of assaulting women? He added that a jury will contemplate and make a decision based on the available evidence.

Shannon Ruth revealed in a press conference in December that she was going to sue Nick Carter for an incident that occurred in 2001 while she was standing in line in an autograph line at the Backstreet Boys' show in Tacoma and Nick Carter asked to join her to his bus. During the press conference, she stated that, even though she is autistic and has cerebral palsy, she believes that nothing has had a greater impact on her life than what Nick Carter did and said to her.

According to the documents, Nick Carter allegedly asked Shannon Ruth if she needed a drink, and when she said she would want apple juice, he allegedly gave her a red-colored drink he termed "VIP juice," which she believes contained alcohol.

Melissa Schuman's attorney has yet to respond, but at the time, Melissa Schuman claimed that Nick Carter raped her while the two were working on a project together in 2017. She wrote on her website at the time that she was invited to Nick Carter's home and that the two of them started to kiss in the bathroom, and then Nick Carter performed oral sex on her despite her request to not to do it. Melissa claimed to be 18 at the time, while Nick Carter was 22. She claimed that despite telling Nick Carter that she was a virgin and would not have sex until marriage, the singer led her to his bedroom, where she claims he raped her.

At the time, Nick Carter's attorney stated that this allegation about an incident that allegedly occurred more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also completely false, adding that Shannon Ruth has been exploited into making deceptive claims about Nick for several years now, and those accusations have changed repeatedly and substantively over time.

The lawyer went on to say that nobody should be fooled by a press stunt fomented by an unscrupulous lawyer—there is no basis for this claim at all, as the courts will quickly realize.

Nick's suing for $2,350,000 in damages.
