If you think you have seen all that there is to birthday parties, from hilarious cake falls to candles that refuse to blow out, you might be missing out. Nicole Richie, 40, just celebrated her birthday this Tuesday and her hair catching on fire is one of the most shocking birthday moments.
Her birthday celebration was quite a lit event, said Richie herself. She shared a video of her taking part in the traditional ceremony of wishing for something good on a birthday cake and then blowing the candles.
The video is from her 40th birthday celebration, which fell on Tuesday. The party was complete with near and dear friends and a personalized cake. The cake features a Young Richie doing ballet with a sweet 'Happy Birthday' decoration. The blue cake was adorned with four candles hitting her 40th anniversary.
As she finished wishing for her Big Day, Richie leaned towards the cake to blow out the candles as traditionally done during birthdays. But things took a turn for the worse as the Birthday girl's hair fell into her face on bending forwards and soon caught on the flame, and from there, things escalated to chaos.
She might have soon realized the burning hair smell and screamed upon learning of her dire situation. She tried to put off the flames, batting them with her hands, and a guest jumped right in to help put off the quickly spreading flames.
The short video ended just right there as the flames spread along the actresses' afro without any reassurance if the flames were quenched without any damage. But taking from her Birthday post's caption, "Well... so far 40 is 🔥,' everything seems to be great with the actress.
Her friends and family were quick to quip sarcasm on the post, while others asked if the designer was doing okay. Her husband, Joel Madden, commented "That's hot." on Richie’s post, which was Richie and her friend Paris Hilton's catchphrase from the show 'TheSimple Life.'
Sofia, Nicole's younger sister, quipped, "OH MY F***ING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!" That's hot😂😂😂😂😂," too.
The sister, Sofia Richie, also shared a post saying: "So lucky to call you my big sis. I love you beyond words @nicolerichie HBD." Whereas, Nicole's celebrity BFF shared: "Happy birthday, @nicolerichie! Love you" along with commenting "OMFG 🙀 Happy Birthday Bill! Hope your OK!🥺 love youuuuu." on the fiery post.
The doting husband himself dedicated a sweet tribute to the actress on his Instagram account. He wrote: "Happy Birthday Nicole❤️ You've made love feel timeless. I've forgotten how old we are ❤️." The post showed the 'very much in love' couple in black and white and showed Madden carrying Richie on his shoulders.
Singer Lionel Richie, the father of Nicole Richie, also shared an emotional post for his little girl's day. The post was captioned: "It's showtime !! ⭐️ @nicolerichie You have been rainbows 🌈 and butterflies your whole life ... but you will always be my little girl, no matter how many birthdays we celebrate 🎉 !! 🎂" The post was a throwback picture of the famous father-daughter duo.
