Noah Cyrus is opening up about her addiction.

Miley Cyrus’ little sister, Noah Cyrus, who is gearing up to release her debut album titled "The Hardest Part" on September 16th, recently spoke to the Rolling Stones where she shared about her addiction and the journey towards recovery.

Noah Cyrus, who is 22 years old, mentioned during the interview that she has been in recovery for nearly two years after she tried downers at the age of 18 and said that her then-boyfriend was the one who initially gave her a Xanax and that it helped the two of them to connect. She believes that she took Xanax because she wanted to be like him, wanted to fit in, wanted to be the person he wanted her to be, and began noticing the things he found cool and what other people were doing, Noah said.

The singer further said that once she realized that she could silence things for a second and numb what she felt (she mentioned pain), it was over. She was surrounded by people who had easy access to Xanax, according to Noah, as well as a group of individuals who never really discouraged her at the time from using drugs heavily. She recalled the times when she slept for hours and woke up at eight o'clock, according to Noah. She struck rock bottom after dozing off during a chat while giving press interviews, Noah Cyrus said.

Explaining the incident, Noah Cyrus said that she was completely nodding off and falling asleep and was unable to keep her head up or keep her eyes open because she was so far gone especially during the pandemic. Noah mentioned that it just kind of becomes a dark and bottomless pit in the end. Noah Cyrus shared about the incident where her grandmother Loretta passed away in August 2020, which turned out to be an eye-opener for her because she felt guilty for not being there for and with her and the family emotionally, especially her mother Tish.

The singer said that she was sitting alone and was scared and realized that all the people that she loved and all the people that she needed were being pushed away from her because of her and added that it took her some time to get back on her own two feet, but she was adamant to recover, and soon she started her recovery process. Music played a significant role in helping her as she was able to channel how she felt via lyrics.

Noah revealed that she started working on her debut album six months after she reached out to ask for professional help and is now really excited for everyone to hear it. She announced the debut album along with a single ‘I Burned LA Down', which she said was inspired by the end of the relationship as well as the looming threat of climate change, and also revealed during a press release that all of the internal emotional pain she was feeling was interwoven with the anxiety around the out-of-control fire (the 2021 Caldor fire) and climate change in general.

In another interview, Noah explained the meaning of "I Burned LA Down" and mentioned that the song was inspired by the notion that setting the entire city on fire and being an agent of destruction would be the only way her ex could fully understand the depth of her feelings. The singer went on to say that 'I Burned LA Down' seems so much broader than anything she has ever written, and that the notion of mental conflict showing itself in the actual world and hurting the surrounds is a significant subject of the record.

She continued in her interview with the Rolling Stones that she is not trying to be any kind of spokesperson for recovery as she is herself going through the process and figuring things out as she goes ahead. During the interview, Noah stated that she wakes up in the morning now, can look in the mirror and go on about her day without hating herself, and is now finding ways to feel comfortable with herself and nurture herself in the best way possible. Working on her album helped her to have a hope for better days and she was able to focus on things and people who mattered and explained that everything that she had felt was coming out in her lyrics and she did not feel the urge to hide or sugar coat the reality of her life.

Although Noah Cyrus did not name the boyfriend who introduced her to Xanax, she was dating Lil Xan when she was 18 and in 2018, she called their relationship a mistake. Arctic Monkeys and The 1975 collaborator Mike Crossey produced "The Hardest Part," and Noah explained that she was involved throughout the process of creating the musical arrangement and choosing the instruments, including pedal steel and slide guitar, featured on the 10-track album.

Mike and she were described by Noah Cyrus as being motivated and immersed in the music. She said that the integration of their thoughts was smooth and that she had discovered a secure environment where she could create music with the people she loves and trusts. For her, the procedure was therapeutic.

Noah Cyrus who was also nominated as the Best Artist for 2021 GRAMMY and almost had a break down while talking to Entertainment Tonight at the time stated that all her life she has been compared to her sister and pop icon Miley Cyrus and that had made it very challenging for her to grow and have a love for herself so for being nominated for Best Artist for the GRAMMY meant a lot to her.
