Olivia Wilde talks about women in Hollywood.

At the 2022 Women in Film Honors event held at the Beverly Hil Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, hosted by Da'Vine Joy Randolph, "Don’t Worry Darling" director-actress Olivia Wilde appeared in a stunning all-black gown and discussed women in Hollywood after she and writer Kate Silberman were honored by the end of the night by filmmaker Reed Morano

Reed Morano who presented the honor to Olivia Wilde and Kate Silberman after they collaborate on Don't Worry Darling and Booksmart, said that she is so inspired by working with Olivia because she thinks Olivia approaches everything from a really brave and interesting perspective, something she has not seen before.

Kate added that they wanted to approach the film by analyzing the traditional gender roles and how these customs have altered, as well as how they assume people have changed but not as much. When discussing a woman-led film, Olivia Wilde said of the branding of "female director" and "female filmmaker" that she believes being considered as a niche fraction of the industry is not an advancement; women don't want to be a group; women want to be comparable.

Olivia Wilde said that she believes that women in the film industry need that community because sometimes it’s tough, so difficult to be heard and keep going. She went ahead to share an anecdote from her 2015 movie Meadowland with director and cinematographer Reed Morano. The actress shared that she saw how that set did have a fair number of men and women who she witnessed worshipping the people and, just in the most respectful sense of that word, really standing up for them. Olivia said further that she was like, "She wants that," adding that she does not want to say that this is a process of fighting only for women on set, but she wants women in positions of leadership so that men can learn from women. Olivia remarked that people should see all the men learning from Reed Morano.

The actress and filmmaker, Olivia Wilde was recently honored at the Elle's Women in Hollywood Celebration held at the Getty Center in Los Angeles. Olivia Wilde said while accepting the award, she stated that she is a member of the Sigourney sisterhood, an actress who began producing and then gained the courage to begin directing, and that she would not have begun any of it if she had known Twitter would be invented, but that she is here now and that it is a true pleasure to have undisputedly the highest job in the world. The actress stated that Nina Garcia has done her honor by including her on a truly exceptional list of women who have not only inspired her forever—forever—but who have shaped the very structure of this industry through their working hard, bold choices, and resilience.

Olivia expressed her awe at this moment and her gratitude for the support it represents. These opportunities to gather as women, such as tonight, are critical and extremely impactful. They allow businesswomen to look each other in the eyes and say, 'Keep going.' Because, let's face it, staying motivated isn't always easy. It's sometimes tempting to walk away from the raging hellfire of misogyny that defines this industry and says, 'Good night, good luck, she'd rather eat glass for a living.'

She went on to say that she had recently had several opportunities to personally experience the power of encouragement from other women in this industry. It frequently manifests as a tight grip on one's shoulders, an intense stare into one's eyes, and a defiant 'Do not let them fuck with you.' And it's always tempting to respond, 'Well, if they didn't know things were bad before, she certainly does now.' Just kidding; it is always greatly appreciated. However, she added that these are profound moments.

Because they are perhaps their most honest acknowledgment of a constant battle that women in business are all fighting, in which they are all allies, relying on one another not to fall back and stop progressing because they are up against a seriously great force of opponents that has tried to rein them in for centuries. If one of them takes a step back, they all take a step back.

Olivia Wilde stated that no matter how much the patriarchy relies on women to tear each other down to weaken their collective power, women must resist the urge to play by their own rules. Remind the world, particularly their daughters, that they are not easily manipulated. So, thanks to Nina and everyone at ELLE, tonight is one of those moments, and she feels energized and motivated to keep fighting through the hellfire. In some ways, aren't the difficulties a part of it? True honor badges, as is customary.

Olivia suggested that they accept the fact that they are not a woman in Hollywood until she urged them to be placed in a medically induced coma until their press tour is over. Until then, they are just a woman living in or near Hollywood. In conclusion, she stated that she enjoys her life and her job and that all she could ask for is to be the only cover, but that is a personal discussion she will have with Nina. Olivia thanked everyone else and expressed how grateful she is.
