Daphne Bridgerton-Basset bids adieu to Bridgerton.

Actress Phoebe Dynevor, who portrayed the beloved character of Daphne Bridgerton-Basset on Netflix’s most successful show "Bridgerton," will no longer appear in the upcoming season.

The actress, who is currently promoting her upcoming erotic thriller feature titled "Fair Play" alongside actor Alden Ehrenreich, appeared at the Sundance Film Festival where she was asked about Daphne Bridgerton’s future on the show, to which she said that she will not be returning to reprise her role in season three but added that potentially in the future.

During a separate interview with Variety, the actress who played Daphne Bridgerton for two seasons stated that she has done what she wanted to do with that character and she had a great arc, so if the makers would like for her to return in the future, then she could return, but for season three, Phoebe said she is excited to watch it as a viewer.

Phoebe Dynevor is not the first star of the Shonda Rhimes-produced series to depart once their debut season concluded. Actor Regé-Jean Page, who played Duke of Hastings Simon Basset opposite Phoebe Dynevor and is now known as the most handsome man in the world, according to science, decided to leave the show after portraying the character in the first season.

It was announced earlier that for season three of Bridgerton, the storyline will center on Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope and Luke Newton’s Colin Bridgerton. Jess Brownwell, the new showrunner, reported at the time that it had been Colin and Penelope's time to sparkle on the show. Because the viewers have been observing each of these actors on their screens since Season 1, Jess explained that they have already engaged with them and understand who they are as people.

According to the showrunner, particularly in the last season, there were these tense moments between them where Colin strolls up to the line almost having realized Penelope has sentiments for him but can't quite get there. Rather than going backward on that dynamic, they decided to incorporate it into their season. It appeared to be the ideal time to tee it up.

Penelope featherington (Nicola Coughlan) is at last over her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after listening to him defame her to his friends last season. Instead, she's going to concentrate on finding a partner who will honor her freedom, allowing her to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown apart from her mother and sisters. Her quest, however, is hindered by her lack of confidence.

Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer vacation with a new look and a lot of flamboyance. He is surprised to discover that Penelope, the one individual who has always praised him for who he is, is changing her mind about him. Colin, eager to regain her friendship, aims to assist Penelope in enhancing her confidence in hopes of attracting the perfect partner. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin is confronted with his inner emotions for his friend.

Penelope's rift with Eloise, played by actress Claudia Jessie, who has discovered a new friend in an unexpected place, complicates matters, while Penelope's increasing presence in the ton tends to make concealing her Lady Whistledown alter ego all the more complicated.

"Bridgerton," based on author Julia Quinn's popular book series, concentrates on a different couple connected to the Bridgerton family each season. The first season focused on the romantic drama between Phoebe Dynevor's Daphne and Regé-Jean Page's Duke Simon, while season two centered on Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton and Simone Ashley's Kate.

The first two seasons of "Bridgerton" are now streaming on Netflix.
