Obsessed with mysteries that make your head hurt? Then you sure would have loved the constant thrill of Pretty Little Liars. A story choke-full of dark turns, horrifying secrets, and horrendous people, Pretty Little Liars had a great run for seven years from 2010 to 2017 on Freeform. Based on a novel series with the same title, Pretty Little Liars revolved around a group of high school girls with dark secrets to guard. But the secrets turn up their dark heads soon enough, and the past comes chasing them once again. They can only run so much until their past catches up with their misdeeds!

Now, four years after the original series premiered their finale on Freeform, a new spinoff show based on the TV series is coming to appease your mystery-loving mind again! To be made by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, the creators of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a magical fantasy series revolving close to the paranormal and dark themes similar to Pretty Little Liars, the series will have its very own sets of shrouded evil.

While we are not yet sure if the new series will be a series reboot, a revival, or a spinoff, the series is going to pick up in the present times, which means the story will have a 20-year leap from where things were left off in Pretty Little Liars. The story is meant to show "a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart" that happened 20 years ago.

The making of the show was announced last year in September, along with a first teaser for the show. Named Original Sin, the series will have a strong subtone of the things seen in Pretty Little Liars. Keeping up with the tone of the mysterious "A" that the whole series revolved around the teaser left behind a strong message echoing in the heads of the viewers: “It’s not what you think, bitches.” So be ready to be surprised!

Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon shared their delight at working on the new series and talked about the genius of I. Marlene King. They revealed, “We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series as #CANON and do something different.” In the statement about the new show, they added, “So, we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series while weaving in new, unexpected elements.”

However, the creator of the show, also famous for Famous In Love, is not very much on board with the idea of the new Pretty Little Liars. She had an epic joke about the bodies of the PLL victims still not being cold and being lost somewhere in the WB jungle. The OG Pretty Little Liars creator shared, “We are PLL family forever. If we need to declare ourselves #OGPLLFamily, then that’s what we’ll do. Starting now." A fan, who was equally not happy with the new series popping up, commented, “The bodies aren’t even cold yet,” and the creator quipped, “Literally. They are somewhere in the WB jungle.”

The show that ran for seven years more or less followed Sara Shepard's book series beginning with Pretty Little Liars, Wicked Little Liar, and more. The series cast Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Sasha Pieterse in the iconic roles of the four estranged high school friends Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily, and Allison.

Now that the spinoff series is happening, what can the new series be particularly about? Here is everything you need to know about the new cast and more!

Will the series be like Pretty Little Liars?

Yes, Absolutely! The Original Sin is going to feature more or less of everything that you got to enjoy in the mysterious proceedings of the OG Pretty Little Liars series, including the 'A' the characters dreaded so much!

The synopsis of the new TV series read: "Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago ... as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars; Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars."

The new PLL: Original Sin series will stream on HBO Max exclusively. The series will begin production in New York the coming summer, so we might get to see behind-the-scenes peeks of the series anytime by then. And the series could drop by late next year or in 2023.
