Prince Harry talks about Prince William in Spare.
Ahead of the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, "Spare," the book has already made some headlines as a couple of extracts from it have been revealed.
In his memoir, Prince Harry referred to his brother Prince William as his beloved brother and archnemesis, and in a segment from the interview, that will air on Good Morning America soon, host Michael Strahan inquired the Duke the about the stern language used for his brother. Harry stated that there has been a rivalry between both the two of them, and strangely, he appears to believe that it continues to play into or always has managed to play into the heir and spare label.
The Guardian published an excerpt from the memoir that described the physical confrontation between the two princes. Harry claims that in 2019, he fought with Prince William over his wife Meghan Markle at Nottingham Cottage after William started calling the former actress challenging, aggressive, and obnoxious. Everything occurred so quickly, according to Harry, that William managed to grab his collar, tore his necklace, and managed to knock him down to the floor.
When he was knocked to the ground, the Duke happened to land on the dog's bowl, which managed to crack under his back and the bits cut into his, and he managed to stay dazed for a moment before actually rising to his feet and trying to tell him to leave. When he left, Prince William asked Prince Harry not to inform Meghan about the altercation, but the former actress discovered the bruises and scrapes on his back and told Harry that she was not amazed or angry, but instead unfortunate.
He also stated that when Meghan Markle tried to hug him for the first time, Prince William was completely shocked. Harry decided to add that he hoped Meghan Markle will indeed greet him with basic reverence per procedure since she didn't know and Harry hadn't discussed it with her, noting that when he met his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, she was the queen, but when he met his brother, it was only Willy who loved "Suits."
Harry stated that both Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton couldn't believe he was dating the actress from their favorite show and that he was perplexed until William and Kate explained that they were regular—no, religious—viewers of "Suits," and that listening to that made him feel relieved. He wrote stating that he had been having to worry about the wrong stuff all along, and he had been worried that Willy and Kate would not accept Meghan into the family, but now he was too concern about them badgering her for an autograph.

He and Meghan Markle left their official duties in 2020 and moved to California with their two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

One of the excerpts concentrates on Harry's assertions that William was bitter and jealous when he did hear his brother's concept for the annual sporting event to advantage injured, badly hurt, and sick members of the armed forces and veterans, describing him as annoyed. He also wrote about how King Charles III had informed him that the royal family did not have enough money to support his wife Meghan Markle financially, as he was already supporting William, Kate, and Harry, but Harry said that it was his job to do so.
Harry writes that he and his older brother had agreed to serve the monarchy and keep their hands and feet inside the gilded cage at all times in exchange for being taken care of, but he soon realized that King Charles III couldn’t handle someone new (Meghan Markle) dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, and someone else shiny and new coming in and being able to overshadow him. After Harry and Meghan Markle, both stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, they were monetarily cut off and were forced to cover their security costs. The very next year, Harry disclosed that he was able to continue their way of life thanks to his late mother's estate's approximated $13 million inherited wealth.
Since Prince Harry decided to resign, the brothers have reconnected several times, such as at the funerals of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth in April 2021 and September 2022, respectively.
