Harry and Meghan feature Princess Diana’s interview.

The highly anticipated Netflix series Harry and Meghan dropped on December 8, 2022, and a clip of the late Princess Diana’s controversial Panorama interview was included in the show. Prince William had requested never to air that interview again, but it was included on the show.

Last year, Prince William stated that the hotly debated interview in which Princess Diana was duped into giving the interview by now disgraced- journalist Martin Bashir must never be broadcasted after a BBC investigation determined that it had been managed to secure through deceit and only added to the late Princess Diana's paranoia and fear in the aftermath of her divorce from Prince Charles. Princess Diana discussed her husband Prince Charles' affair with Camilla Parker Bowles during the interview.

The interview brought back a lot of painful memories for the royal family, particularly Prince William and Prince Harry, which is why Prince William indicated that it should not be aired, but in the first episode of Harry and Meghan, Harry discusses media encroachment on the royal family before an excerpt from that contentious interview is shown.

An official BBC investigation in 2021 concluded that Bashir, 59, had acted "deceitfully" and falsified documents to safeguard the interview with Diana, during which she made the now-infamous remark that there were "three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded." In response, Prince William stated that, in his opinion, the deceptive manner in which the interview was obtained significantly influenced what her mother said. The interview played a significant role in deteriorating their parents' relationship and has since harmed countless others.

He went on to say that it fills him with unexplainable despair to know that the BBC's mistakes significantly contributed to her worry, paranoid delusions, and exclusion that he recognizes from her final years with him. William went on to say that he believes this "Panorama" program has no validity and must never be broadcasted again. It established a media narrative, which has been heavily marketed by the BBC and others for more than a quarter-century.

Princess Diana had lived encounter of how she continued to struggle while living that life, according to Prince Harry and played a critical role to speak about it when a clip was shown in which Diana tells the camera crew to stop filming her and her son. According to Prince Harry, the controversial Panorama interview, in specific, is living proof of the way she was tricked into giving it, even while telling the truth about her experience.

It was reported previously that William and Harry are united in their dislike for the BBC and Martin Bashir’s ethics regarding the interview, but their views on the interview are different. Where Prince William feels that the interview should be locked away and never shown on screen, Prince Harry has more condemnation for the media than the actual interview, and he would not like to see the footage. According to a source at the time, Prince Harry believes the interview was misconstrued, but at the end of the day, it's Princess Diana's story, and it has the right to live.

The first three episodes of Netflix's documentary series "Harry and Meghan" have been released. The royal family had declined to comment, according to the streaming service, at the start of the series. Although a source familiar to the British monarchy mentioned that the assertions that the royal family refused to give an opinion on the show are false since neither Kensington Palace nor Buckingham Palace , or even any royal family members, were attempted to contact for a declaration on the series' content, the Palace is not aware of any particular approach. According to a Netflix source, the offices of King Charles III and Prince William were contacted in advance and given the authority to respond to claims in the series.

Furthermore, ET has learned that Kensington Palace did receive an email about the Netflix docuseries from a third-party production company. The e-mail was sent from the email address of an unknown organization. The office attempted to contact Archewell Productions and Netflix to confirm the authenticity of the email, but there was no response. The email did not discuss the entire series or contain the material of the allegations made in the Netflix program. There was no reaction because there was no verification or response from Archewell or Netflix. The series will center on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's early love story and struggles in the royal family, as well as their life after stepping down as senior working royal members.

The first three episodes are streaming on Netflix.
