Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough are no longer in touch.
According to reports, Elvis Presley's ex-wife Priscilla Presley and granddaughter Riley Keough are no longer on speaking terms after things had become tense between the two following Lisa Marie Presley's untimely death.
Following Lisa Marie Presley's death on January 12, it was reported that her daughter, Riley Keough, was designated a co-trustee of Lisa Marie's trust, whereas the Graceland—the Memphis, Tennessee estate that rightfully belonged to her father, Elvis Presley—will pass down to Riley and 14-year-old twins, Harper and Finley.
Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie's mother, is disputing this in court, causing a schism among the King's kin. The sources say that it's been a very tense and heartbreaking few weeks for both Riley and Priscilla as Riley has been grieving her mother's death and is heartbroken to be dealing with a trust dispute with a family member. Priscilla is steadfast that she has a solid argument and will win in court and added that Riley and Priscilla aren't talking right now, but they've been communicating through lawyers.
According to a source close to the couple, while they are preparing for court, Riley sincerely hopes they will reach an agreement privately, adding that she feels heartbroken that this has become a public matter and knows her mother wouldn't want this. Riley is presently stressed and she has been trying to keep a positive mindset and outlook to prepare for the release of her new show, Daisy Jones & The Six, which is coming very soon. Riley's husband and daughter, they added, are continuing to keep her in good spirits.
According to the sources close to Priscilla, when it tends to come to her late daughter's trust, Priscilla is doing what she believes right in her heart and she believes that old paperwork was forged. Following Lisa Marie's death on Jan. 12, her representative told to ET that Graceland, the ancestral home of her father, Elvis Presley, would be given to her three daughters: Riley and twins Harper and Finley.
Riley and Lisa Marie's son, Benjamin, who died in July 2020, were later revealed to be co-trustees of Lisa Marie's trust in 2016. Priscilla, on the other hand, is questioning the truthfulness and plausibility of Riley's appointment, asserting that there are many issues regarding it. In 2010, Lisa Marie legally appointed her mother and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as trustees before changing it in 2016.
Priscilla Presley stated on February 3rd in response to reports that she is challenging Riley for trust. She said that she loved Elvis as much as he loved her and Lisa Marie is the result of their love and for people to believe otherwise would be a travesty of the family legacy and an insult to what Elvis Presley had left behind. She further asked people to allow them the time they need to work collaboratively and resolve this. Elvis' ex-wife mentioned that people should please disregard the noise and noted that she will continue to establish a path forward with respect, sincerity, honor, decency, and love, as she has always been there for Elvis' legacy, their family, and the fans.
Amid the legal battle, Joel Weinshanker, a general manager at Elvis Presley Enterprises, spoke out in favor of Riley's proceeding to serve as a trustee in the wake of Lisa Marie's death. Joel said on SiriusXM's Elvis Radio that when Elvis passed away, he left everything to his daughter and he did so recognizing that she would be the one to carry on his legacy. He added that he can tell that Lisa Marie has always decided to look out for Elvis, no matter whatever else was going on in her life or career, no matter what another person or family member was trying to do.
Joel added that they simply want to consider what Lisa would have wanted, and that is what is best for Elvis as she never had any doubts in her mind that it was Riley. There's no doubt because Lisa Marie Presley did communicate it, there's a lot of written material about it, and she'd decided to tell so many of her friends about it. Joel said that there has never been any reason to suspect, and anyone else who says otherwise doesn't care about Elvis, Lisa, or Riley.
Riley Keough recently decided to skip a media event for her upcoming show 'Daisy Jones & the Six,' in which she stars along with Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone, Josh Whitehouse, Will Harrison, Tom Wright, and others. She shared pictures of her co-stars on her social media stating that Daisy is missing all the fun. Daisy Jones & The Six follows "a rock group in the 1970s from their emergence in the LA music community to turning into one of the most iconic bands in the world" and goes deep into the causes for their breakup at the pinnacle of their success. The show which features ten episodes will premiere on Amazon on 3rd March.
