Priyanka Chopra's marriage to Nick Jonas came with a lot of controversies and a sleuth of internet trolls accusing the actress of countless, baseless allegations. Still, the couple stayed strong and heeded their love for each other with utmost sincerity and respect. Now years after their wedding, the couple is strong enough to joke about their oh-so-big age gap and roast each other on live TV.
The Baywatch actress recently joined her husband Nick Jonas on the Jonas Brothers Netflix comedy special series that stars the three brothers, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas. The star, aged 39, was joined by the three brothers and a few other celebrities as they traded roasts and sarcastic comments at each other on the show. Jonas Brothers Family Roast is available to stream on Netflix.
The recent episode of the series showed Priyanka going all out with her comedic brilliance as she took a dig at her 10 year age gap with her husband, who is aged 29, while the actress is 39 at the moment. The two had tied the knot back in 2018 in a shared western and Indian ceremony.
Opening her dialogue on the show, Priyanka stated, "I am honored and so thrilled, actually tickled, to be here tonight to roast my husband Nick Jonas and his brothers, whose names I can never remember." Apart from roasting her husband, the actress dragged Nick's brothers right into the conversation, saying, “I’m from India, a country rich in culture, in music, and entertainment, so clearly the Jonas Brothers didn’t make it over there.”
Having successfully grilled the Jonas family, who are notably a talented group of brothers that commanded their boy music band and now continue to produce hits, Priyanka proceeded to call out her age gap with her husband. The actress said, “Nick and I have a 10-year age gap. We do. And there are many ’90s pop culture references he doesn’t understand, and I have to explain them to him, which is fine because we teach each other.” She added her hilarious dig as she said, “He showed me how to use TikTok, for example, and I teach him what a successful acting career looks like.”
But that is not the only dig she had in store for the 'Sucker' singer that night. Priyanka took the liberty to call out Nick over his vanity and his extreme self-love as she continued, “Seriously, I want to talk about how much I love my husband, and one of the things I love about my husband is how much we have in common,” Priyanka said. “You know, for instance, we’re both totally, completely, wholly obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with Nick Jonas. We love Nick Jonas. He’s our favorite.”
Even when talking about the future of their family and much more serious conversations, Priyanka managed to smuggle in hidden jabs at her husband and their family life. Almost on the verge of making an announcement that eerily resembled a pregnancy announcement, Priyanka added in the punchline.
The actress joked, “In all sincerity, I love that I married a man who, like myself, values family. If you don’t know, we’re the only couple who doesn’t have kids yet, which is why I’m excited to make this announcement.” She stealthily added, “Nick and I are expecting… to get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow!” Nick, of course, had to quip at the shady 'expecting' announcement and shared he was revealed that the things did not go south as he said, “I was a bit concerned.”
Now, if you think Priyanka's roasts were brutal wait until you hear how the rest of the Jonas Brothers fared in the roast show. While it is notably the brothers' own family show, they just could not score well but be totally grilled by their wives. When Priyanka was done with Nick, Sophie Turner took over the reins to drag her husband, Joe Jonas, in an epic roast fest.
The Game of Thrones star began with a TMI joke which will have you laughing for some while. Taking a dig at Joe's now-notorious purity rings, Sophie Turner said, “I know this is a roast, and you all think I should be going after them, but I think we need to set the record straight here.” “No, the rings weren’t a good idea. Yes, as a gesture they’re laughably, toe-curlingly lame,” added the actress.
Carrying with her collection of roasts that could make just about anyone blush, Turner targeted Joe again, quipping, “But remember: This was about more than a gesture. This was about faith. This was about principle. This was about taking a stand and setting an example. Look, Joe Jonas wasn’t just sticking his fingers in some dumb metal rings. He was sticking his fingers in costars, actresses, and even a supermodel or two.”
