Priyanka Chopra Jonas celebrates Diwali with friends and family in Los Angeles

The Festival of Lights, also known as Diwali, is a five-day festival celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and certain Buddhists that symbolizes fresh beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness. Family and friends congregate to watch fireworks and decorate their homes with diyas, candles, and other lights.

Global star, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband singer Nick Jonas even though living abroad hosted their own Diwali celebration on Thursday to honor the five-day Indian festival in Los Angeles, USA, where the couple performed Lakshmi Puja at their house where they invited some guests from the industry including Chrissy Teigen, and John Legend, as well as actor and former White House staffer Kal Penn.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to social media to share a glimpse of the celebration and shared some pictures that were captured by restaurateur Maneesh K. Goyal. "With the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi, we invite Her grace and abundance into our home. "Happy Diwali”. In the pictures, we can see Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a yellow saree, and Nick Jonas dressed up in an embroidered white kurta.

Nick Jonas also took to social media to share his excitement about hosting his family and friends for the holiday and embracing the Indian festival. He captioned the picture; "My beautiful wife has introduced me to so many wonderful Indian holidays and traditions. My heart is so full to be able to share this with our friends and family."

According to a news release, actress Mindy Kaling also sponsored a Diwali dinner party in cooperation with media business Phenomenal and cosmetics brand Live Tinted to showcase South Asian women's voices in the media and entertainment industries. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, novelist Meena Harris, actress Lilly Singh, actor-comedian Liza Koshy, and "Never Have I Ever" star Poorna Jagannathan were among the renowned South Asian women who attended the celebration.

Mindy Kaling took to her social media to share the celebration pictures, "We hosted some amazing women from our community and got to share stories and celebrate each other (with delicious food and major fashion moments). This couldn't have happened when I first moved to LA over a decade ago, but now we are here. Next year will be even bigger. Meena's and Deepica's companies are fabulous, fashionable, and shifting culture (they also have an amazing Live Tinted collab out now!). We hosted some amazing women from our community and got to share stories and celebrate each other (with delicious food and major fashion moments). First lady Jill Biden, along with the President of United States Joe Biden also wished everyone a Happy Diwali by sharing a picture on social media with a caption reading, "May the light of Diwali remind us that from darkness comes knowledge, wisdom, and truth: from division, unity, and)from despair, hope.
