Rachel Brosnahan talks about the issue of youth homelessness.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan participated in the Covenant House's Sleep Out to End Youth Homelessness for tenth year and shared why youth homelessness is one of the issues that means a lot to her.

Covenant House is a non-profit organization that supports accommodation, food, and universal health care to some of the country's 4.2 million homeless children and youth in 31 cities. In addition, the organization has operations in five other countries.

Rachel Brosnahan shared with People magazine, raising awareness and funds for those who do not have a place to live is something she is honored and thrilled to be a part of for the tenth time. She clarified that she was making her Broadway debut at the time, and Covenant House was reaching out to a couple of Broadway shows, urging them to participate, and despite her early career, she fell in love with the institution and was so decided to move by one youngster she met during the first Sleep Out event.

Talking about the individual, Rachel Brosnahan said that they were both 23 years old at the time and were sitting across from each other at the table, and she was struck by the idea that with such a few small shifts in circumstances, they could be sitting on the opposite side of the table.

According to the actress, the youth have never been told by society or the people they know that they have a promising future ahead of them or that they are enabled to imagine. And that's one of the things Covenant House offers for them, including the human touch that shows they care; it starts the adventure of ending the cycle of poverty before they reach adult homelessness, which is a more tough habit to break.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress went on to say that she has come to realize that it is the LGBTQ+ youth who are more vulnerable and that LGBTQ+ young people, in specific, are exponentially rated more likely to encounter homelessness than their non-LGBTQ peer group. When somebody is youthful and undergoing housing insecurity or homelessness, they are at the tender mercy of so many adults around people and may not have the same resources or autonomy as their adult peers.

Some people who are helped by Covenant House may return several times. This, according to Brosnahan, is the cycle. And while this may bring shame to the individual, this is where love comes in. She outlined a young woman she met on one of her first sleepouts; they called her A, but she was trying to tell her that it was her fourth or fifth visit to Covenant House. It was her fifth or fourth day there when they met. Rachel went on to say that one of the things she liked best about Covenant House was that it was a judgment-free zone. She was always welcomed back with open arms and went on to college after that. The actress stated that she believes she would not be where she is today if it weren't for that safe space where she was repeatedly welcomed back with open arms.

Her show's co-stars will also participate in the Sleep Out and about that she shares that she is overjoyed that many of her castmates are attending. Michael Zegen and Marin Hinkle also have some amazing people: Audra McDonald, and Stephanie J. Block. She said every year, she and her Mrs. Maisel co-stars participate in the spirit of love and devotion adding that the greatest gift is love and loyalty because one doesn't have to think about it because it's just there. She concluded that everyone should be loved and supported in this way, but one starts noticing when it isn't.
