Stars pay tribute to Kirstie Alley.
The actress who battled colon cancer passed away at the age of 71 on Monday, and her children Lillie and True Parker confirmed the news by sharing a statement via their representatives.
Celebrities have shared their respective tributes for the late actress as well, including John Travolta, who took to his social media account to share a sweet and loving tribute for his late friend and co-star. The actor wrote that his relationship with Kirstie Alley was one of the most special relationships he has ever had, adding that he loves her and knows that they will see each other again.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis who shared the screen with Kirstie Alley in Scream Queens shared that she had just heard the sad news that Kirstie Alley has passed away. She stated that the late actress was a fantastic comedy foil in Scream Queens and a gorgeous mama bear in everyday life, adding that she helped her in having purchased onesies for her family for Christmas that year. Jamie realized that they consented to disagree on some points but had respect and understanding and connection. Kristin Chenoweth, who starred in Kirstie Alley's self-titled TV Land series, began writing that she misses her and hopes to see her again someday, adding that she cannot assume she is no longer alive.
Rhea Perlman, Kirstie Alley’s Cheers co-star, shared a statement that read that she was a one-of-a-kind and fantastic person, and a friend stated that her joy was limitless, and they became fast friends when she joined the cast of Cheers. Kirstie Alley loved kids, and Rhea's kids loved her, and they would have sleepovers at her house with treasure hunts created by Kirstie Alley, as well as massive Halloween and Easter parties to which they would invite the entire cast of the show and their families. Rhea Perlman stated that Kirstie Alley always wanted everyone to feel included, and she adored her children and that she had never met anyone like her, and she is grateful to have known someone like her, and she will miss her.
Denise Richards also shared a picture of the late actress and wrote that Kirstie Alley is one of the funniest, nicest, and strongest women she has ever met, and she is so lucky and grateful that she got to do a movie with her in that she played her mother. Denise said that she was quite intimidated to work with her, but she immediately made her feel so comfortable, and she had a heart of gold and a deep love for animals. The actress concluded that Kirstie Alley’s laugh was infectious, and she would just light up any room she walked into.
Tim Allen tweeted that a sweet soul pass on in Kirstie Alley adding that it’s a piece of sad news and he is praying for her family. Adam Sandler also wrote that he is going to miss Kirstie Alley and described her as a fearless funny sweet human being. Adam mentioned that he is sending his love to her family and is thinking about them in his prayers. Candace Owens wrote that it’s sad to hear about the passing of Kirstie Alley describing that she was so sweet.
Kirstie Alley was an incredible talent who brought so much joy to many with her incredible performances on-screen along with her warm and extremely funny spirit, Jackee Harry tweeted. Josh Gad expressed his deepest sympathies to Kirstie Alley and her family on Twitter and said that her smile was always infectious, her laugh was always intense, and her public persona was always distinguishable. Josh added that whether it was her unique ability which she portrayed in Cheers or her permanent magnet performance in the Look Who's Talking franchise, the actress always stood out.
Jonathan Knight shared a picture of the two of them and wrote that his heart is ripped into a million pieces and his half soul has been taken away, adding that the two of them met and connected in a way one rarely gets to experience with others. He continued that through his tears, he goes through their pictures together, and he reads and re-reads their texts back and forth, listening to her voicemails. Jonathan goes on to explain how he came to be so fortunate to have her in his life, stating that the time they spent together was unlike any other, describing Kirstie Alley's heart as bigger than the moon and her life as full of passion.
He continued that he is still processing the fact that she is no more, but that he will find comfort in knowing that she will always be in his heart. Peta Murgatroyd also shared a picture of her with her then partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and wrote that she will always remember her as full of life, sassy, and sarcastic. SHe added that Kirstie Alley was always nice to her and was always rooting for Maksim and her concluding that their Gangnam Style group number on DWTS is forever etched in her memory.
