Robert Pattinson will play Batman in the next reboot of the Batman film franchise, ‘The Batman,' produced by DC Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Matt Reeves, who also co-wrote the film with Peter Craig, directs the film.

Ben Affleck announced his departure from the movie in January 2019, and Robert Pattinson was locked in as the new Batman in May. Ben Affleck was not only supposed to play Batman, but also co-write, direct, and produce the film, but he opted to drop aside due to personal health issues.

During the press conference for the Academy Museum's opening, Robert told reporters that becoming Batman is a surreal experience. “I [had] moments when I was shooting when I'd get a peek of myself in a reflection and be like, "Wait, am I truly doing this?'” he continued. “This is insane!' But it's been a lot of fun and a lot of excitement thus far.”

‘The Batman’ is set in the early days of Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting career, as he attempts to discover corruption in various parts of Gotham City while also chasing down the Riddler, the antagonist.

The script by Matt Reeves and Peter Craig will transport the audience to Bruce Wayne's early years and delve deeper into the 'trauma.' One of the co-writers had suggested that Bruce Wayne's action behavior could be understood as a reaction to the trauma he experienced as a child.

It is no wonder that Robert Pattinson's casting as "BATMAN" surprised not just the entire world, but even the actor himself. Robert, who most recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" and Netflix's "The Devil All the Time," received mixed reviews from fans. Fans who grew up idolizing Bruce Wayne/Batman from an early age had mixed feelings regarding Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the role.

The actor was immediately compared to Christian Bale and Ben Affleck, who had previously played Batman. Their primary concern was how the “Twilight” actor would appear in the Batman Suit, as they did not want the series to mess up with their favorite superhero.

Robert Pattinson said during the Academy Museum's opening ceremony that there are many surprises in store for the viewers with the film. Matt Reeves published a ‘moody, red saturated’ test clip of the actor in his Batman suit in February 2020, but none of the actors or the writer-director have talked much about the plotline in depth. Giacchino composed the music for the footage.

"I've seen a little bit of the film now, and it's sort of cool," Pattinson added. "It's super cool."Matt Reeves' ‘The Batman’ is reported to be a rival series to Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight' trilogy, according to sources.

Andy Serkis, who will also be seen in ‘The Batman’, is confident that the audience will enjoy the film. The performers are aware that fans are anticipating not only the release of the film but also the fact that the story authors should focus on the character they've adored for a long time.

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravtiz, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and others, is planned to hit theatres in March 2022. The trailer for the film will be shown at DC FanDome 2021, with a global live stream starting on October 16, 2021.
