Ruby Barker is prioritizing her health!

Actress Ruby Barker, who appeared in Bridgerton as Marina Thompson when the show premiered in 2020, has taken to her social media to share some important updates about her mental health.

Ruby Barker shared a video on her social media from a hospital where she has been receiving treatment and said that she has been unwell for a while now after she was able to acknowledge that she had been not keeping well, she asked for professional help and received her diagnosis, which she did not share in the video. The actress assured her fans and followers that she is receiving all the help she needs to get better and that she is doing better.

Ruby mentioned that she feels that she needs to be honest with everyone who follows her or looks up to her about her struggles and challenges, and disclosed that she is in the hospital. She is going to get discharged soon, hopefully, and will be able to get on with her life. She added that she is going to take a little break from herself to heal and get better.

The actress looked to be quite honest and genuine in her video, adding that she wants to urge others to take a break and stop berating themselves, especially if they are going through a difficult time. Ruby Barker went on to say that she had always been told not to be harsh on herself, but she didn't understand what it meant until she realized it for herself. Ruby stated that before seeking professional care, she was filled with hatred, frustration, and resentment as a result of intergenerational trauma that had built up inside her and that she felt like she was carrying the weight of the world on her back.

Ruby Barker stated that about her diagnosis, she will talk to the people about it some other time, but she assured that she did get diagnosed and is on her way to recovering and relinquishing herself, forgiving herself, and learning how to draw a line in the sand. The actress, who was praised as Marina Thompson, shared with her fans that she could no longer carry on with her life the way she had been doing till now and that needed to change. That’s why she asked for help and is trying to change. She gave a huge shout-out to Australian artist Sexton as she was seen wearing her hoodie and explained that her music has helped Ruby in a very positive and meaningful way.

Ruby Barker thanked Netflix and Bridgerton's executive producer Shonda Rhimes for enabling her to play Marina Thompson on the program and for saving her life, as well as all of her friends, family, and mentors who supported her. Ruby Barker explained that she has struggled since Bridgerton, but that she is now recovering and improving so that she can complete her job obligations and have a nice and successful career ahead of her, especially because she does not want her diagnosis to define her.

Ruby went on to say that she wants to survive and that she will, as would everyone else, and that if they are with her, they are in excellent hands. Ruby Barker had to leave "Running with Lions" after contracting COVID-19 and experiencing mental health issues. The actress captioned the video she released, saying that every week is mental health week for her and that she thinks she hasn't been honest with her fans, therefore the video is her being honest. She expressed her gratitude to everyone for their love and support.

Ruby Barker had previously mentioned that being a part of Bridgerton meant a lot to her, especially being a part of a diverse show after thinking that she wouldn’t be cast on the show because of her race. She clarified that she did not watch the show with her family for obvious reasons and said that she was very grateful to be a part of such a successful show.

We wish the actress a speedy recovery.
