While Hollywood’s most biggest and popular franchise Marvel Studios is gearing up to launch the Oscar nominating Mexican actress Salma Hayek in its upcoming superhero blockbuster The Eternals, the Frida star reveals that it was not a smooth process for her to travel this far in the US-based Hollywood Industry.

Hayek said that before starring in 2011’s Puss in Boots, she along with her film co-star Antonio Banderas had to struggle a lot because both of them had very different accents. “The whole thing was so bizarre, because Antonio and I really struggle because of our accents, Nobody wanted to hire us because of our accents. And in this case, they hired us because of our voices, [because of] our accents, Nobody wanted to hire us because of our accents.” Hayek shared with Yahoo Entertainment during a Role Recall interview conducted in 2017.

“He was just so amazing, this cat, and he was so Antonio, He was just so lovable, the eyes, So I thought it was going to do well,” Hayek added while discussing about Banderas’ performance in the films during the same interview.

The fantasy film Puss in Boots after making its way into the theatres turned out to be a big success for DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures, which served as the producer and distributor of the film respectively, as it was able to earn over $500 million at the box office around the world.

Alongside Salma Hayek, in the role of Ajak, Chloe Zhao’s directed superhero epic, The Eternals features Angelina Jolie in the role of Thena, Kumail Nanjiani in the role of Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry in the role of Phastos, Richard Madden in the role of Ikaris, Gemma Chan in the role of Sersi, Lauren Ridloff in the role of Makkari, Lia McHugh in the role of Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani in the role of Kingo, Barry Keoghan in the role of Druig, Don Lee in the role of Gilgamesh, Kit Harington in the role of Dane Whitman with additional actors such as Harish Patel, Haaz Steiman as Phastos' husband, Ozer Ercan as a smuggler and Zain Al Rafeea in an unknown role.

Although Salma Hayek fans will have to wait just for some more days to see the superstars making her debut in Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hayek in a separate interview gave some glimpses to fans of her superhero character Ajak. "So, Ajak is in charge to supervise them, bringing them over. I'm trying to go around not saying she's the boss. She's the leader," Hayek said. "I decide what I tell, when I tell them, because I'm the only one that can talk to the Celestials ... See what I'm looking at is the human characteristics, how I see them and stuff, you know?" she said.

"I know that Kingo [Kumail Nanjiani] is the most vain of them all and the attention seeker," she added. "I see them like my kids. It's my own way of finding them, and I talked to this with Chloe [Zhao]. He's my attention seeker, okay? Then, Thena [Angelina Jolie] is the mysterious, and you never know what's going to come out in her, you know? Because she is the strongest, and in some ways the most fragile and that's the beauty in her. This is where I watch out for her," she added.
