Salma Hayek to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Salma Hayek, who recently starred as Ajak in Marvel's "Eternals," will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 19th, 2021, Friday at 6:00 p.m. PST.

In a statement, Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame Producer, said, "Salma Hayek Pinault is hailed as one of the entertainment world’s most respected and sought-after actresses. It is our pleasure to honor this talented actress with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame".  Salma Hayek’s star on the Walk of Fame would be the 2,709th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the star will be placed at 6901 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Chinese Theatre Box Office.

The actress is being recognized for her support of women's, children's, and immigration rights. That includes "The Kering Foundation," which Salma Hayek and her husband donated to Congress to extend the Violence Against Women Act. The actress' organization, which she co-founded with her husband, has resulted in an attempt to free women all over the world from sexual, physical, and mental violence. Salma Hayek has also teamed up with Gucci to launch Chime for Change, a campaign that promotes the education, health, and justice of girls while also raising donations for those in need.

Salma Hayek made her acting debut in the telenovela Teresa in 1989, as well as the 1995 film El Callejón de Los Milagros (Miracle Alley), for which she received an Ariel Award nomination. Salma Hayek rose to fame thanks to parts in films such as Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Wild Wild West, and Dogma. Salma Hayek rose to prominence after playing Frida Kahlo in the historical film "Frida" in 2002. The actress was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance, becoming the first Mexican actress to do so, as well as Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and British Academy Film Award nominations for Best Actress.

In 2015, Salma Hayek accompanied UNICEF to Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon, where she launched the "Chime for Education" campaign to gather funds for refugee children's education. Salma Hayek Pinault led fundraising efforts for earthquake victims in Mexico in 2017 and helped UNICEF raise about a million dollars. She also worked with the Pepsico Foundation and Habitat for Humanity to deliver 180 dwellings to earthquake victims during the catastrophe relief effort. Hayek Pinault is a lifelong sponsor of several notable charity groups, including Girl Effect and Fondo Semilla, and continues to be active in a variety of critical social justice problems.

Salma Hayek’s co-stars, Adam Sandler and Academy Award-winning director Chole Zhao, will be present at the ceremony as speakers, while the actress will be honored. Chamber of Commerce Chair of the Board Nicole Mihalka will emcee the event with Chamber Vice Chair Lupita Sanchez-Cornejo.

Salma Hayek said of her role in Eternals, "I have this strange sensation that this is the film that I belong to." I don't know what it says about me, maybe because I'm a rebel and I like to fight for different things, and this is so special. It's an honor. I used to complain like, 'How come they never called me for this film? I'm never going to be a superhero... 'and I'm so grateful that nobody called me. Thank you for not thinking about me because then I wouldn't have been asked [for Eternals]. "  Salma Hayek as Ajak managed to impress the audience with her strong and powerful role in the movie. Ajak is the leader of Eternals who is a  competent warrior and healer who possesses superhuman abilities such as super strength, durability, immortality, and energy manipulation. She has recently signed a multiple film contract with Marvel Cinemantic Universe and hopes to return as Ajak in the future movies. 

Guest editor Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, chose Salma Hayek as one of fifteen women to appear on the cover of British Vogue's September 2019 issue. The actress will be seen in the upcoming movie, "House of Gucci," which will be released on November 24th, 2021, in which she is going to play Giuseppina Auriemma. The film is a biographical crime thriller directed by Ridley Scott and based on Sara Gay Forden's 2001 book "The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed." Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino also star in the film.
