While Scarlett Johansson has been in the news lately for her ongoing legal battle with Disney, whom she has sued for breach of contract, there has been very little indication that the Avengers star was so close to childbirth. However, in a recent announcement to People magazine, the actor’s representative confirmed the news of a firstborn son for the actor, and her comic/comedy writer husband, Colin Jost. Jost is the co-anchor on Saturday Night Live’s popular news broadcast parody, ‘Weekend Update’ that pokes fun at current events. Jost is also a head writer on Saturday Night Live.  

Scarlet Johansson shares a daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, with French journalist and entrepreneur, Romain Dauriac. The former couple shares joint custody, while Jost and Johansson were engaged in May 2019 and were wed in an intimate ceremony in October 2020. Johansson’s daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, who just turned 7, just welcomed her baby brother, Cosmo. The Vicky Christina Barcelona actor has been out of the public eye lately. However, her husband, Colin Jost, mentioned her pregnancy in passing on Sunday, at a stand-up special at The Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut.  

Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson met on the sets of Saturday Night Live. The Black Widow actor has hosted the show multiple times between 2006 and now, while Jost joined Saturday Night Live’s team of writers in 2005, before going on to become co-anchor on ‘Weekend Update', and a head writer on the show. Johansson made her acting debut as a child actor on stage, is best known for her starring role in Marvel’s Black Widow, and was the highest-paid female actor in 2018 and 2019. The actor will be a part of an ensemble cast in Sing 2 set for release this year, and The Jungle Book 2 in 2022.  

Johansson was earlier married to Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds, from May 2008 to July 2011. The actor then went on to date French journalist and entrepreneur, Romain Dauriac. The former couple welcomed their daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, in 2014, and Johansson married Dauriac that same year. The couple divorced in mid-2016, and share custody of their daughter. Johansson is a hands-on mother, who fiercely shields her daughter from the press. As such, paparazzi photos of the mother-daughter duo are rare. However, the actor has shed light on her experiences as a mother in various interviews.

In an interview with talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, she said, “My daughter loves fairy tale things, she loves girl things, princess stuff. And I love it, too! I love all the Disney princesses from back in the day.” The Black Widow actor has been guarded with the press about the dissolution of her marriages to Ryan Reynolds, and Romain Dauriac. In an interview to news outlets, the Black Widow star shed light on her refusal to discuss her personal life, specifically her divorce with Romain Dauriac, saying: “As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage.”
