Shakira appears to be shading ex-Gerard Pique.
On the occasion of New Year's, singer Shakira took to social media to share a message of hope, indicating that she is not giving up on love and is looking forward to the New Year.
The message in Spanish stated that, while the wounds remain open in the New Year, the time has a surgeon's hand, and that even if someone has deceived them, people must maintain their faith. It continued by stating that even in the face of contempt, one must continue to value oneself simply because there are more good individuals than bad people.
Shakira's statement went on to say that there are more caring individuals than indifferent people, and that very few people are leaving and more people stay by one's side. People's tears, based on the singer, are not going to waste; those who water the soul, where the future is born, and make other people more human, allowing them to love even when they are heartbroken.
The singer’s declaration comes six months after she announced her split from longtime boyfriend Gerard Piqué after being together for 11 years. They wrote in a joint statement back in June that they regretted confirming that they were separating, adding that their sole objective was to provide for their children with the utmost security and protection and hope that they could continue with their lives in a safe and calm environment. The former couple said that they appreciated that their privacy would be respected. Shakira and their sons, Milan and Sasha, will reportedly be moving to Miami after they reached a suitable arrangement after a 12-hour meeting that allows Gerard to spend 10 days a month with the kids.
Shakira stated in September 2022 for Elle's cover story that the breakup had been challenging not only for her as well as for her children, adding that it had been incredibly difficult and she had attempted to hide the situation in front of them. The songwriter went on to say that she does her greatest to safeguard them since they are her top priority in life. But then they hear comments from their friends at school, or they come across one of these distasteful, uncomfortable news on the internet, and it just impacts them, you know?
Shakira also defined the breakup as the darkest moment of her life, saying that she occasionally feels like it's all a horrible dream and she'll wake awake at some point, but it's not. She also asserted that discussing the separation was the hardest thing she had to do, especially since she was still going through all of it and was in the public spotlight.
Furthermore, the ex-couple is said to have agreed to sell their mansion in Barcelona, Spain, in which they raised their two sons together. Although the justification for their split was never affirmed, many theorized that Gerard, who later announced his resignation from football, was the one who leave the relationship because he appeared to move on quickly. Shakira also denied dating Gorka Ezkurdia after the two were discovered together near the Spanish city of Santander.
