Shania Twain is proud of her body.
The country-pop singer Shania Twain, who is gearing up for her sixth studio album titled "Queen of Me," which will be out on February 3, decided to pose topless for the single titled "Waking Up Dreaming," which was released in September.
During a conversation with People magazine, Shania Twain said that with her decision to pose topless, she is voicing the fact that she is self-assured in her skin, and this is how she wishes to start sharing that confidence. Shania believes that the best fashion is confidence and that whatever one wears should be worn with the utmost confidence.
The country singer went on to say that she is a woman in her late fifties who does not have to hide behind apparel and that she cannot express how pleasant it is to do a nudist photo op. Shania expressed her dissatisfaction with her new body, trying to claim that as a woman well into menopause, she is not even emotional about it and simply feels alright about that now, calling it liberating.
Shania Twain decided to strip down her midriff and go braless for her music video "What Made You Say That" in 1993, trying to break the parameters set for women. She explained that she had been ditching the bra from the start, in the very first video, but she was a lot stiffer than, so as she got a bit older, she suddenly felt a differential resistance from stuff like her breasts not being as firm as they were once her skin being less tight as it once was, and the started to think that maybe she should cover up her skin just little bit more.
But the country music star was not about to give up, and she clarified during the discussion that when she hit the brick wall, she thought her optimism was moving backward and her strength of character was dampening, and she started to wonder why she was enabling all of this to happen. Shania asserted that she told herself that she is not reverting back and that she will start embracing her body's changes, as she ought to have completed since childhood. She stated that she should have accepted the changes from her taut, the 20s and 30s selves to her now going through menopause body, adding that she would not be ashamed of them and that she wants to be brave and strong about it and start sharing that strength of character in the artwork that she is producing.
Shania Twain battled with her image as a child and recently informed The Sunday Times that she used to try to compress her breasts to prevent exploitation from her stepfather Jerry. She described that as a teenager, she never decided to wear a swimsuit to the beach because she was self-conscious. She tried to claim that her father made her feel self-conscious and that wearing shorts or not being completely covered up was almost impolite. As her body reached maturity and she grew into a teenager, she began to acquire real curves. She mentioned that she is plus-sized and that her boobs bounce when she starts walking.
When that began to happen, she began attaching herself down: she was wearing two bras, explaining that she was constantly wearing, tight spandex things under her overly large hoodies; she was dressing like a boy. Shania stated that she was ashamed about being a woman and that she was trying to hide her bends almost as if she was dismissing them. She insisted that she was rejecting who she was becoming, which was entirely natural. How disgraceful is that? Not embarrassed of herself, but of the pressure. It was terrible.
The singer went on to say that she has never felt better in her skin, and she hopes to motivate future generations of women to grasp their self-esteem. Shania Twain concluded by saying that she desires other aging process women or any women, even if they are 12 and growing, they should not feel compelled to hide behind their fear or self-consciousness. But she added that they must do it following their own sense of what is right, nice, and secure for them.
