Shawn Mendes is opening up about his feelings.

In an open letter written to fans, Shawn Mendes opened up about how he has been feeling overwhelmed lately. He wrote that he either feels like he’s flying or drowning constantly and is worried that if people around him are aware of the truth and his thoughts, they might think less of him.

The letter, which was written on his notes app, was posted on singer's social media, and he added that he is concerned that people will grow tired of him, and when he thinks about this, he either puts on a show or tries to hide his feelings from everyone. Shawn Mendes continued, that perhaps this is what it's like to be in your twenties, before adding that he doesn't know for sure and that it could be just him.

Shawn went on to say that he wants to show up in the world and speak his truth without regard for what others think, but that he is currently struggling with the same. He added that he has been hyper-focused on what he does not have and has forgotten to see what he has and has achieved till now. He mentioned in the open letter that he’s just overwhelmed and overstimulated and just wanted to share his truth and honest feelings with his fans. Shawn Mendes added that he’s okay and he’d like to think that maybe his admitting how he feels could resonate with some people out there.

After pouring down love and concern from the fans, Shawn took to his Twitter account to share that he was okay and just wanted to communicate with his fans in the most honest way possible, so he went ahead and wrote a letter for everyone. He also added that he believes that if he goes through such feelings, there might be someone out there who would be able to relate to him, and he does not want that individual to feel alone, especially when they are going through this.

Fans have poured their love and support for him and mentioned that the open letter from him feels like a hug from him, and Shawn Mendes replied that he is really glad that they could feel him. One of the fans wrote that one thing that makes Shawn Mendes special as a person and even as an artist is his way of owning up to what he feels and the confidence he has to express himself and put his truth out there that most people would avoid talking about.

In other news, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has announced that Shawn Mendes is going to appear on stage on May 15th to collect the Juno International Achievement Award at The 2022 JUNO Awards in celebration of his global impact on music. Shawn Mendes is an 11-time Juno Award winner and everyone is really excited to see him on-stage next month and cheer him as he receives the award. The ceremony will take place at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, and the program will be broadcast live across Canada at 8 p.m.

Shawn Mendes said in a statement that he is excited and humbled to be collecting the award and added that he feels grateful to be recognized for his work not only in Canada but across the world. Shawn mentioned that the moment is definitely going to be surreal moment for him and he feels very humbled to join an outstanding group of artists who have helped put Canadian music on the map.

Shawn Mendes joins the list of artists who have been honored with the award, which includes Arcade Fire, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Drake, Shania Twain, and Sarah McLachlan. Allan Reid, President, and CEO, CARAS/JUNO Awards, said that Shawn Mendes’ dedication and passion for his craft is truly inspiring and, from his work as a singer-songwriter to the creation of The Shawn Mendes Foundation, the singer has demonstrated an incredible commitment to music and cultivating the next generation of creatives. Allan added that they cannot wait to commemorate all of Shawn Mendes’ achievements in person on May 15th and feel grateful as Canadians to claim Shawn Mendes as their own.
