In honor of their work in music and charity, Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish will receive a combined lifetime achievement award. They will be honored with the artist and manager partnership prize at the Artist and Manager Awards, the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) and Music Managers Forum (MMF).

On behalf of the MMF, I also want to pay tribute to their invaluable advocacy work, particularly on the issue of post-Brexit touring, which will impact all artists and where David and Elton have both led from the front,” said Paul Craig, chair of the Music Managers Forum. “For all of these reasons, the MMF and FAC are ecstatic that they will both be receiving their prizes in person.”  Paul further added. The Artist and Manager Awards will be held on November 18th, 2021.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish married in 2014 after meeting in 1993. They have two children. They have consistently received recognition for their decades of dedication to society and music. Sir Elton John established the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992, which has raised hundreds of millions of pounds, and David Furnish is a member of the board of directors.

Every year, the pair throws a black-tie gala to raise money for the foundation. The pair was honored with the Human Rights Campaign Equality Award in 2014, and they must be extremely pleased with their joint lifetime accomplishment reorganization.

Sir Elton John, who was scheduled to go on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, has opted to postpone it for the next three months in order to undergo hip surgery. He is currently isolated in preparation for surgery and has apologized to his supporters for the tour's postponement. All the dates have been pushed out to 2023.

John used his official Twitter account to provide supporters who were looking forward to seeing him on his farewell tour an update on his health. “At the end of my summer break, I tripped and landed awkwardly on a hard surface, and my hip has been in a lot of agony and suffering ever since. Despite intense physiotherapy and professional care, the pain has worsened, making it increasingly difficult to move. It has been recommended that I have an operation as soon as possible to restore my full fitness and rule out any long-term consequences. I'll begin an intense physiotherapy program to achieve a complete recovery and return to full mobility without pain."

David Furnish took to social media to give an update on his husband, saying, "He's doing well." He's in a lot of discomfort. His hip hurts a lot. He's been fighting for a long time, and having to reschedule the next three months of gigs was devastating. But your health must come first, and I don't believe he would have been able to finish the tour if he hadn't gone in for hip surgery, so I'm genuinely relieved and excited. Then he'll be able to return to the road, pain-free, and everyone will enjoy a greater show, and he'll be happier.”

David Furnish is working on Netflix’s new show ‘Pear’ in collaboration with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. During Inspiration Awards, David shared, “She's a fantastic collaborator, amazing leader. And we're just very, very excited to be working with, you know, someone is as influential and as supportive as Netflix.”

Wishing Sir Elton John a speedy recovery and a couple of congratulations on the award!
