Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” remake releases its first trailer.

The waited musical by Steven Spielberg is going to release in U.S theatres on 10 December. Disney has released the first official trailer of the movie which is an adaptation of the famous 1957 Broadway musical.

West Side Story is going to be directed by the multi-award winner Steven Spielberg. It’s going to be a story of romance, rivalry, young love, and rebellion in New York City.

The movie is inspired by a musical with the same name, West Side Story which was again inspired by William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. The musical was based on the book by Arthur Laurents, Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and has music composed by Leonard Bernstein.

Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler can be seen as the star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria. Even though it is a remake of the 1961 picture which won 10 Oscar awards, including best picture, the expectation for the film is high. 

Rita Moreno will be seen in a supporting role; Moreno has won the Oscar award for her performance in the original film. Some of the other fine actors in the cast including, Josh Andrés Rivera, Brian d’Arcy James, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Corey Stoll, and Ariana DeBose all in important roles. 

The recently released trailer gives fans an overview of what’s in store for them, from the blooming romance to fierce rivalry. The trailer begins with Maria (Rachel Ziegler) singing the opening of “Tonight” justifying the soul of the musical. 

In the following scene, we can see Maria talking to her brother and saying that she wants to be happy as it’s her first time in New York City, she is getting ready for the party that’s going to change her life.

She meets Tony (Ansel Elgort) during the dance which only ignites the tension between the rival gangs, The Jets and The Sharks. The trailer doesn’t leave any aspect of the movie from showing the gangs coming together for a war to the young romance blooming carefree of the future and its consequences. 

The trailer is full of breath-taking scenes, with some finest visuals and impressive dialogues, the movie is surely going to be a treat for all movie lovers.
