The part two of the finale of The Bachelorette premiered on Tuesday, and Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer got engaged.
Gabby Windey expressed her love for Erich Schwer when she said that in her heart she knows that he has fought for her so much and that he loves her in this very secure and comfortable way and said that he has taught her how she wants to be treated and that it is okay to ask for those things. Gabby had said to Erich that sometimes it is hard for her to take things at face value because of everything she has gone through, but he has taught her that it’s okay to feel safe and wanted and loved in a way that she has never been loved. Gabby concluded her speech by saying that he’s the only one left and she understands that it’s hard she thought that she had felt it for a while, but she knows that she loves him.
Erich, in his reply, said that he feels freaking lucky that it’s Gabby. Gabby Windey, during a confessional, said that Erich is the best thing that has ever happened to her and it feels so right, like it honestly feels like a fairy tale, adding that she cannot believe that he is all hers. Erich is the love of her life, and according to Gabby, everything in her life has happened for a purpose. All of the arrows and stars seem to be pointing in his direction, and it almost seems as though he was meant to be.
But on Monday, when part one of the finale premiered, the audience got to witness that maybe Erich Schwer was not ready to pop the question just yet and was heard telling her that he wanted them to work. He expressed that he would like to date her in the real world and see how it goes. He mentioned that getting engaged before that does not feel right and it’s not the way things go.
Gabby was heard saying to the cameras that she does not want to do this anymore and does not want anyone to be forced, adding that she is sick of it and asked if she should walk away because the love of her life is not ready to propose. But Erich Schwer did overcome his fears and thoughts, and in Tuesday’s episode, he did pop the question.
Erich was told by Gabby that when she first saw him, her stomach was churning and her heart may have missed a beat or two. She was alarmed. The ICU nurse continued, saying that Erich reminded her of a love she has only ever had in her dreams. She also claimed that she always believed Erich to be too wonderful to be true, but that she now understands that he is both too good and true, and she told the real estate analyst, "I love you." In his reply, Erich said to Gabby that she deserves someone who is going to give her 100% and that is the reason why he is standing in front of her because he wanted to be that person for her. Erich added that Gabby brings out the best in him and he feels like they have known each other for years, which at the time he did not know, but he had met his soulmate.
Erich Schwer said that he was scared to meet her for the first time and added that then they had their two or three chit-chats and he felt something different and mentioned that their connection was insane. Erich told Gabby that what he remembered most about her was that when he met her, he immediately felt at ease, and he had never met anyone who made him feel so at ease.
The real estate analyst continued that he loves her, she is amazing, she is the most amazing person he has met and it’s her and him until the wheels fall off, and added that he is head over heels in love with her and wants to spend the rest of her life with her. Erich popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond ring, and she accepted. Gabby Windey gave her final rose to Erich, which he accepted, and then drove the two of them off on a motorcycle.
While talking to host Jesse Palmer, at the After the Final Rose episode, Erich and Gabby said that they are not done knowing about each other because there is so much more. Gabby also added that when someone says "yes" to spending the rest of their life with someone, they should know that the journey is not going to be easy, especially if the relationship is in the public eye but did mentioned that the couple's communication has strengthened over the time.
