The 1992's romantic drama The Bodyguard after years of rumors and speculation is finally getting a remake. The remake will be made under the banner of Hollywood's film studio Warner Bros. The studio on Wednesday announced the news but it did not provide too much information regarding the cast and crew. The film was responsible for launching Whitney Houston's acting career.

The film will be produced by Lawrence Kasdan, who also worked on the original film as a writer along with Jonathan Elrich and Dan Lin who have long been associated with the film. The script for the romantic thriller movie will be written under famous story writer Matthew Lopez who gained a lot of popularity with his play The Inheritance, which is based on E.M. Forster's novel Howards End. The play is even regarded as one of the most successful and honored plays of the century.

The original 90s film The Bodyguard was a romantic drama that heavily focused on an obsessive stalker who continuously gives death threats to Rachel, an actor, and a singer but things change completely when she hires a secret service agent as her bodyguard. The film featured Whitney Houston as Rachel, Marron Kevin Costner as Frank Farmer, Ralph Waite as Herb Farmer, Bill Cobbs as Bill Devaney, Gary Kemp as Sy Spector, Christopher Birt as Henry Adams, Mike Starr as Tony Scipelli, Michele Lamar Richards as Nicki Marron, Tomas Arana as Greg Portman, Gerry Bamman as Ray Court, Tony Pierce as the stalker and DeVaughn Nixon as Fletcher Marron.

The film was awarded two Academy Awards for its original soundtrack “I Have Nothing” and “Run to You,” and was even nominated for the Best Original at the Oscars, but it, unfortunately, lost to Disney's "A New World" track. The film’s original soundtrack is considered the top-selling of all time with mind-blowing 45M copies sold around the world.
