The Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao, who is serving as the director of Marvel Studios upcoming superhero epic The Eternals, while appearing in a recent interview with Fandom revealed a surprising fact from the film that the studio initially wanted to introduce the fans to 12 new superheroes in The Eternals but later on, the plan was dropped and she and the production team working on the movie eventually decided to go with the version of the film that includes 10 superheroes.

Zhao explained that ten superheroes that are going to be featured in the movie, were already a lot to handle for her and the production team. "Some characters don’t need the most screen time, it’s about what they do with the screen time," she explained. "They have to be memorable. And when we looked at these 10 unique individuals, we thought about how they represent 10 aspects of human nature. They’ve been here for so long, who they become today is a big part of who we are. And so it was actually equally important that they remain memorable. All 10 of them had the same weight; not necessarily screen time, but the weight."

Although Zhao has previously never handled a superhero film made on such a big scale, the fans are expecting a lot from her as they will get to see some of their favorite comic book superheroes making theirs into a live-action film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Chloe Zhao, the superhero film was the wildest cliff she has directed in her career. "It was probably the windiest cliff that I have ever been on," Zhao said in a separate interview, "You'd have to have a helicopter to achieve the wind that we had that day. We had our whole cast standing on that cliff in their costumes, and we played really loud operatic music on the speaker, just blasting that through the wind.”

She added, "Seeing my cast coming together in formation as the Eternals, with the beauty of this ancient-looking landscape, and the ocean and the sky, that was… [Laughs] I mean, I couldn't stand because I felt like I was getting lifted by the wind. But other than that, it was pretty awesome."

Marvel Studios The Eternals has a long and diverse cast list which features big superstars such as Brian Tyree Henry in the role of the first gay superhero Phastos, Angelina Jolie in the role of Thena, Salma Hayek in the role of Ajak, Richard Madden in the role of Ikaris, Gemma Chan in the role of Sersi, Lauren Ridloff in the role of Makkari, Lia McHugh in the role of Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani in the role of Kingo, Barry Keoghan in the role of Druig, Don Lee in the role of Gilgamesh, Kit Harington in the role of Dane Whitman with additional actors including Harish Patel, Haaz Steiman as Phastos' husband, Ozer Ercan as a smuggler and Zain Al Rafeea in an unknown role.

The superhero fans and followers won't have to wait anymore as the much-awaited film is less than a week away from officially releasing in theatres on 5th November 2021, after a delay of more than one year as it was earlier meant to be released in November of last year but the plan had to be dropped due to impact the Coronavirus Pandemic which forced theatres all around the world to shut down.
