The 31-year-old American filmmaker and screenwriter Nia DaCosta, who will join Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, to lead the upcoming superhero film The Marvels as the director, has made a shocking statement by saying that Josh Brolin's Thanos wasn't the one responsible for "The Snap" but it was Chris Evans' Steve Rogers as he sacrificed an entire universe when the right time came for him to decide between saving Vision or an entire universe from the Mad Titan.

DaCosta said that it was all Captain America's fault when the snap happened because he had a choice to make between Vision and the entire universe. "Something I like to say a bit flippantly about Captain America is that the Snap is all his fault because he was trying to do his best, trying to do the right thing, there is a world in which he's a villain because, at the end of the day, he should have just sacrificed Vision. He chose one robot's life, albeit a sentient one, over literally the entire universe. There's a sort of anti-hero in that if you want to look at it through that lens," DaCosta told Inverse in a recent interview.

She went on to say that people will think that she is saying something that is crazy but if you think deeply, Steve Rogers' journey is somehow connected to Thanos. "People would say I'm crazy for thinking that way, but there's something connected to the journey of the anti-hero and the hero. The hero's pain is something that spurs them to martyr themselves, and an anti-hero's pain is a thing that kind of starts their journey as opposed to ending it," she added.

While Marvel Studios 2018's Avengers Infinity War and 2019's superhit Avengers Endgame explored one of the most powerful beings Thanos and his journey of getting all the infinity stones for erasing half of the universe's population, the studios' upcoming superhero blockbuster The Eternals will go more into the details why the superhero squad Eternals, who were present during the events did not interfere during the snap, according to The Eternals director Zhao, "The audience will understand why, but how complicated not interfering made them feel. We explore that. You'll see that in the film. The Eternals were instructed not to interfere with any human conflict unless Deviants are involved. There's a reason why that's the case. And that was the instruction from the prime Celestial Arishem."

She continued by saying that the film will explore the events that took place before Thanos was born. "What excited me is the idea of going back in time, and exploring [the time] before Thanos was born, before anyone was born," she continued. "Where does the MCU go back in time? And that brings us to the mythology of the Celestials. Anything involving the Celestials is going to be at a huge scale level of complication, let's put it that way."

The Eternals is just weeks away from arriving in theatres as it is set to release on 5th November 2021.
