While not many people agree that reality competitions make for good entertainment, this year's competitions have managed to get out of the box and make history. First, it was Dancing With The Stars that made headlines for breaking the glass ceiling, and now the singing competition "The Voice" is making rounds for its history-making win of the year.

So, who actually won the intense competition from Hailey Mia, Girl Named Tom, Paris Winningham, Wendy Moten, and Jershika Maple? The five finalists of the show for its 21st season took to the stage for their final performance giving rise to a legendary battle between the talented singers.

The competition ran for two hours, finally leading to a big moment when the winner would be named. Wendy performed Just a Fool by Christina Aguilera along with Blake Shelton. The singer then also accompanied Pars for a rendition cover of Love Train by The O'Jays. Other singers performed their best, too!

The performance of Girl Named Tom was preceded by host Carson Daly revealing that the trio had managed to become the first act from the show to retain their rank of four songs on the top 10 list of iTunes at the same time apart from being the first trio ever to make it to the finals of the show. The trio then proceeded to perform a flawless cover of "Leave Before You Love Me" by the Jonas Brothers.

Just about an hour later, Daly revealed the vote results of The Voice, with the group getting to be the winner of the show. Apart from the Voice trophy, the siblings took home $100,000 and a recording contract to their name.  Notably, the historical win of the group also means that the group became the first-ever trio to win The Voice! The group was then crowned the final winner of the 21st season and will go down in history for making the legendary win for the first time ever.

Their celebrity mentor Kelly Clarkson had shown immense belief in the trio's talents, saying, "You have a huge fan base behind you. Let's capitalize on that. Let's keep it going. I'm Team GNT forever." However, the win has been made a little less sweet as the father of the three siblings battles cancer and was to undergo surgery in Ohio.

Referring to their historical win, the trio shared through their Twitter account: "If you are reading this, you have achieved the impossible: you've made a trio win The Voice. Not only have we made Voice history together, you've helped fulfill three siblings' dreams & encouraged us to keep dreaming big."

They then went on to tell the sad news of their father battling cancer, as they wrote, "As we are writing this statement, our dad is in horrific pain following yet another surgery. The only reason we are still in Los Angeles is that our parents want us to be here, doing what we love. We cannot wait to finally all be in the same room."

The musical siblings thanked their fans and supporters from The Voice, adding, "Thank you to everyone at The Voice and everyone listening now for continuing to love and care for the suffering. We have felt your compassion and humanity throughout this whole process. Not only do you believe in us, we believe in you. Keep being positive, hope-filled beams of light in every corner of the world."

While many fans might be saddened thinking they saw the last of the siblings on The Voice, Girl Named Tom shared, "Of course, this is NOT a goodbye. We have dozens of new songs that we cannot wait to share with you. We love you, we are grateful to you, and we hope that you have a special holiday season. See you in 2022!"

Just last month, another reality TV show had broken down the barriers and crowned a historical winner their finalist of the season. The NBA player, Iman Shumpert, hence, had become known as the first basketball player in the dance series to become the winner of the competition. The player made history in the season with his partner Daniella Karagach and even left behind the Dance Mom alum JoJo Siwa and other seasoned celebs like Amanda Kloots and Cody Rigsby

Dancing With The Stars has led a pretty inclusive and diverse cast over the years, including celebrities, actors, professional dancers, athletes, and more. Before Iman Shumpert became the first NBA player and basketball player to take home the trophy, the competition had also broken the glass ceiling when they cast the first same-sex dance couple for the competition. It is also remarkable to point that DWTS star JoJo Siwa had earlier come out as LGTBQ in January, and having a same-sex partner on stage was phenomenal for the show.

The star told the Television Critics Association, "I think it breaks a wall that's never been broken down before," during her summer press tour. "I think it's really special that, not only now do I get to share with the world that you're going to love who you want to love, but also you can dance with who you want to dance with."

Jenna Johnson, Siwa's partner on the dance show revealed her own happiness at making history and shared through Instagram: “History made 💥💥. JoJo Siwa. There aren’t enough words to express my absolute admiration for you.” She added, “The moment I met you, I knew that you were going to change my life. You are full of love, laughter, positivity, and GLITTER!!! Thank you for an epic night… (and saving me from falling flat on my face 😵) FIRST EVER SAME-SEX COUPLE!!!! And I’m proud to say it. Night one down and (hopefully) many more to go!"
