T.J. Holmes, who was a BET correspondent at the time, opened up about his successful marriage with Marilee Fiebig in 2012. Holmes simply recommended other married people do the correct thing, treat each other well, and regard each other, saying that there are no secrets to a happy union. T.J. Holmes was sighted kissing Amy Robach on a trip to Miami, Florida, shortly after he filed for divorce from Fiebig. According to a source, co-anchors Amy and T.J. are still going strong and are completely dedicated to exploring their relationship and see where it takes them. They will not be quiet and reserved with their public affection displays in the last couple of weeks and seem to unfazed by the discovery of their relationship.

After the couple's relationship became public, a source told PEOPLE that the romance between T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach involves two consenting adults who were previously separated. According to the source, the couple split up with their partners within weeks of each other in August, and their relationship didn't begin following that. According to the insider, Amy and T.J. both were separated at the time, so they felt very at ease dating in public after that. Even their spouses had left! So they were just not concealing anything.

The first source explained to people that the close friends' romance only recently flourished after they were split from their spouses. They went on to say that everybody knew they were close friends with good chemistry, and that several years ago, another GMA cast member shared a joke with T.J. about how close he was to Amy, which made him very embarrassed. They'd been through different situations, and everyone knew it was a friendship.

According to the source, the employees made jokes about how excellent their chemistry was, but they quickly shut it down and stated that they were all dealing with their issues and had nothing in common. Amy and T.J. were always doing things together, like her daughter babysitting for his daughter, and they were open about it. Because their lives were intertwined through work, and they were best friends when their marriages ended, he was there to support her, and it was a natural transition.

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were taken off the air on December 5 and will continue to stay so while ABC investigates their relationship. The pair will continue to stay off-air anxiously awaiting the closure of an internal review, according to a memo sent to staffers by Kim Godwin informing them that there will be a rotation of anchors filling in on the show. The sources clarified that there are no suspensions as of now and also stated that the network is currently collecting information and will look into the connection to understand better the specifics before deciding what should be done next.

Kim Godwin shared news of the network's decision with staff that morning. A source shared that during the routine 9 a.m. editorial call, Kim Godwin said she wanted to address the internal and external distractions between two colleagues; Amy and T.J. The source further added that it was not like a special call or something because it happens every day but she did take her time to address the situation with the staff adding that she said even though this isn't a violation of policy, she took time to think about it and wanted to work through what was best, and for now, they've decided to take T.J. and Amy off the air while they figure things out. Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos will host GMA 3 today, but it's likely to vary over the weeks coming.
