Bridgerton is back to filming.

Netflix’s successful and highly anticipated Regency drama, Bridgerton, is back to filming for the third season, which is going to center around Penelope Featherington, played by actress Nicola Coughlan, and Colin Bridgerton, played by actor Luke Newton. Netflix released a 30-second video with Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton back in London, ready to start filming for the third season.

Other co-stars featured in the 30-second video included Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton on the show and was the lead for the second season. Other actors including Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, and Adjoa Andoh etc., were featured who appeared to be excited to return to filming. Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton were seen towards the end of the clip, with Luke opening the door of the carriage to reveal gorgeous Nicola Coughlan, and she’s heard saying that the season 3 filming of Bridgerton has officially begun. Nicola Coughlan has mentioned previously that she is nervous and very excited to be the lead for season three and she has been preparing for the day for the longest.

Phoebe Dynevor who plays Daphne Bridgerton Basset and Simone Ashley who plays Kate Sharma Bridgerton were the two performers not mentioned in the streamer's video that was shared but are quite likely to make an appearance in season 3 at some point. Simone Ashley said to Deadline that she will be coming back to the show in March 2022, adding that "Kate and Anthony are just getting started."

Three new actors are reportedly going to appear in Bridgerton season three. Daniel Francis will portray Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips will play Lord Debling, and James Phoon will play Harry Dankworth. Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis, is characterized as having a charming personality that, when he enters a room, lights it, catches the attention of certain matriarchs, and draws the ire of others.

Sam Phillips’ Lord Debling is a jovial nobleman with peculiar tastes, but with cash and a Nobel title to support his oddities, he'll have no trouble attracting the attention of young women this season. Harry Dankworth, played by James Phoon, is a man with seriously good looks but a lack of wit and brains. In addition, Chris Van Dusen, the showrunner for seasons one and two of Bridgerton, has been replaced by Jess Brownell as the showrunner for season three.Chris Van Dusen will although remain an executive producer this season alongside Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Tom Verica.

The producers decided to skip author Julia Quinn's third book and instead read the fourth book, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton," because they felt the audience had seen the buildup between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, and now seemed like a good time to put their story into place. However, they have assured the fans that even though they are not following the series of the book, the audience will get to see the stories of all the siblings of the Bridgerton clan. For him, Chris Van Dusen said in March that they think that it depends upon the story and it always comes down to the characters.

Chris continued that they have worked hard in the previous two seasons to set up the characters for future seasons and every sibling is going to eventually carry their season, so it was important for them to flesh out the characters and set them up for success. The audience was left with Penelope Featherington over-hearing Colin Bridgerton telling his friends that he would never court Penelope Featherington towards the end of the second season.

According to the season three synopsis, Penelope Featherington is currently working to get over her long-standing crush on Colin Bridgerton and has decided to get married with the best suitor she could find. She would prefer a husband who would give her the independence she needs to continue living a double life as Lady Whistledown far from her mother and sisters. Penelope's attempts in the marriage market fall miserably due to her lack of confidence. Colin, meantime, has returned from his summertime travels with a fresh appearance and a serious air of confidence. But he is disappointed to learn that Penelope, the only person who has ever accepted him for who he is, is shunning him.

Colin promises to teach Penelope confidence-building techniques to win back her friendship in season three. Colin must decide whether his emotions for Penelope are merely friendly as his teachings begin to work a bit too effectively. Penelope's disagreement with Eloise played by actress Claudia Jessie, who has made a new friend in an odd place, complicates matters, and Penelope's increasing visibility in the ton makes it harder than ever to maintain the secrecy around her Lady Whistledown persona.
