Usher remembers Aaliyah with a sweet and emotional confession!

During an interview with E! Daily Pop, Usher who is gearing up to start his Las Vegas residency from 15th July 2022 revealed something really sweet about his late friend Aaliyah.

Usher was asked about which celebrity he wishes he would’ve dated back in the day to which the singer replied by stating "somebody that I was really good friends with that I wish I would have taken more serious. She was a really, really close friend of mine for a small amount of time. And then we just kind of disconnected-it was Aaliyah.” The singer also shared that the two of them would hang out just as friends but the vibe between them never turned or bloomed into anything more. “And we just didn’t get around to it, we just kinda talked but didn’t do it,” he added.

Further in his interview, Usher was asked about his first celebrity kiss which he revealed was R&B singer Monica and stated that she’s a good kisser. The singer who is currently with Jenn Goicoechea and the couple welcomed their second child in September who was welcomed in the world as 50 Cent’s ‘In Da Club’ played.

Both Usher and 50 Cent named their sons Sire and Usher revealed that 50 Cent was on board with sharing the name. Usher said, “Me and 50 we talked about it, and it felt really cool to introduce him to the world saying ‘go shawty it’s ya’ birthday, we’re gonna party like it’s your birthday.” The singer admitted that even being a star, his kids don’t see him as a cool dad even after he tried several times to convince them that he is. Usher also feels grateful that he has managed to keep his personal life away from his career and limelight. Talking about that he said, “I get that fortunate ability to create balance between being this dad that I never had and also being able to report back to my day job which is this artisty”.

Usher also spoke to People Magazine and hinted about the new music he’s working on. Usher said about his Las Vegas residency, “Here being in this new venue, I think we’re starting a new narrative in Las Vegas, a new expectation of what you should expect to come to Las Vegas to experience. I’ve actually made plans to vibe up a bit and give people something that’s different than what they experienced the last time they came into this environment.”

Talking about the new music, the singer added, “My plan is to get back to servicing music the way that we did before. In COVID, while we have been in quarantine, my ideas changed. I actually learned new things. I was able to really be reflective and find out what things matter and really have some true, honest, deep conversations with people and myself, to take some ownership of some of where my life has gone and some of the things that I’ve come through. It is honest. So, yeah, I’m going to release an album this year, hopefully, but now it’s just a matter of the timing, and what the name of the album is and all of that.”

Talking about the late singer Aaliyah who tragically passed away in a plane crash in 2001 as she was leaving the Bahamian site of a music video shoot for ‘Rock the Boat’. She was dating music mogul and Roc-A-Fella co-founder Damon Dash at the time. It’s been almost 20 years since she passed away but her fans always remember her as a sweet innocent girl and various artists including Drake, Kendrick Lamar, have immortalized her in songs.
