The Vanderpump Rules stars Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney have decided to go their separate ways after twelve years.

Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney took to their social media accounts separately to share the announcement that they had decided to end their relationship after being together for twelve years. Katie wrote in her post that she never thought she had to announce this, but she also believes that she needs to be open about her life.

Katie continued and announced that Tom Schwartz and she had decided to end their marriage, and there were no regrets, resentment, or animosity between the two of them, and no sides to choose for the people. The star continued that even though they are on different paths in their lives right now, they deeply admire each other, always remain friends, and cherish the time they were together, praying for each other’s happiness and success.

Tom Schwartz also wrote on her social media that the feeling sucks because how can he sum up a relationship of twelve years in an Instagram caption and is not going to use the "D" word (divorce) as it’s too painful and his heartaches right now, but he will be okay. The reality TV star shared that he respects Katie’s decision and they both had conversations about the decision they have taken and that he would have been really sad if she was no longer happy with him.

Tom added that the both of them had blissful, romantic, and fun times throughout their twelve-year-long relationship, and Katie had taught him to be a better partner and so much about love. After Tom's post it was pretty much clear that it was Katie who pulled the plug from their relationship and according to sources, the couple were facing intimacy issues.

Tom and Katie are going to be a part of each other's life but in their marriage, the duo were looking out for different things that led to them taking the decision. Where Tom was hoping for a little flexible marriage, Katie wants a traditional marriage. The sources add that they have no resentment and are looking forward to start new chapter in their lives now.

The rumors of Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney breaking up surfaced earlier this week when Katie was spotted without her wedding ring. Some of the fans also pointed out that Katie shared a quote by Kim Kardashian which she said during the Vogue cover story and mentioned that in the last two years, she decided to focus on herself and make herself happy. Kim added that it’s important to make one feel good about oneself and that even if you have to make changes (including her divorce from Kanye West), then so be it, because it’s important, to be honest with oneself and acknowledge what makes one happy.

Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney had been dating before Vanderpump Rules aired in 2013, and the ups and downs of their relationship, including the allegations of cheating on Tom’s part, have been well documented on the show. Tom proposed during season four.

The couple tied the knot in 2016 and Lisa Vanderpump officiated the wedding, which was aired in the show’s fifth season. Then, soon after the episode aired, it was revealed that Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney never really filed the paperwork for being legally married. Katie later clarified that they got the marriage license and did all the paperwork, but they never got the marriage certificate and when they called to inquire about it, it was said that the authorities had never received the paperwork.

The duo became legally husband and wife on July 25th, 2019, their second anniversary, and celebrated with their co-stars in Sin City. In November 2021, during Katie’s appearance on the podcast show Reality Life with Kate Casey, the audience got to know about the initial days of the relationship, which ended when it was discovered that she had an abortion in the first year of their relationship.

Katie explained that every woman, every person, has the right to choose to do what they think is the best thing to do for themselves, and she did exactly that. She added that she had less than $300 in her bank account and that they would have broken up at the time. The reality TV star stated that, while she knows they would have made good parents, it felt too much to her at the time.

A lot of support from the cast members, including Beau Clark, Stassi Schroeder, Ariana Madix, Raquel Leviss, and Kristen Doute, has been pouring down on the couple. The couple was spotted at a party at Tom Schwartz’s "TomTom Bar and Restaurant" during the weekend in celebration of TV producer/writer Phobe Fisher’s birthday, although they were not pictured together.
