Jamie Lynn Spears is speaking her truth about her role in Britney Spears’ conservatorship, which was terminated almost two months ago.

In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Jamie Lynn Spears finally addressed the family’s ‘complicated dynamics’ along with opening up about her sister Britney Spears’ conservatorship and its termination in November 2021. The reason she said she is speaking about this now is to honor her voice. "I have to do it or how else can I expect my daughters to stand up for themselves?”, Jamie added.

Jamie Lynn in conversation with host Juju Chang said, "I was happy (When the conservatorship ended). First off, I don't understand—when it was put into place, I was a 17-year-old—I was about to have a baby. So, I didn't understand what was happening, nor was I focused on that. I was focused on the fact that I was a 17-year-old about to have a baby. I understand just as little about it then as I do now.” She added "I didn't have a say when [the conservatorship] happened. My sister was going through a hard time, I was still a child, and that's what everybody, I think, forgets: I was just a kid going through my crap. I was still a cheerleader, and I remember I'd go to games and people would say stuff. I was so angry and sad and worried. I knew things weren't OK, but you don't know how to put that in words as a kid."

In her forthcoming book, ‘Things I Should Have Said', Jamie has mentioned a request that Britney Spears made to her amid the conservatorship but she denies the fact that she had an active role in the process. She explained that she wanted no part of her sister’s estate.

She shared, "There was a time where my sister asked me, of her trust and will, if I would be the person who assured that her boys got what they needed. Whether she's in a conservatorship or not, that was a very normal thing, I thought. Once I realized that, you know what, she's in a conservatorship, I felt like I just didn't want to be a part [of] it until maybe she was out of a conservatorship. So, there was no like, me overseeing funds, or something like that. And if that was, it was a misunderstanding, but either way, I took no steps to be a part of that."

In October 2021, it was reported that Britney Spears feel very hurt and angry from Jamie Lynn Spears, as she believes that her sister had abandoned her and let her down. The source claimed, “They were best friends and everything to each other for so long. She asked for support and feels like Jamie Lynn turned her back on her and couldn't be bothered." But during her interview, Jamie Lynn shared that she had provided sources and resources to help Britney in whatever way she could help her.

Jamie said, "I've always been my sister's biggest supporter. So, when she needed help, I set up ways to do—went out of my way to make sure that she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorship and just end this all for our family. If it's going to cause this much discord, why continue it? Everyone has a voice, and it should be heard. So, if she wanted to talk to other people, then I did, I set that up. I even spoke to her legal team—previous legal team—and that did not end well in my favor. So, I did take the steps to help, but how many times can I take the steps without, you know, she has to walk through the door."

In July 2021, Britney Spears also shared that she was extremely hurt with Jamie Lynn’s tribute performance at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards where Jamie performed a medley of remixed versions of Britney Spears’ songs. Addressing the same, Jamie Lynn said, "Honestly, it was somewhat confusing to me about that, and I actually have spoke to her about that. I was doing a tribute to honor my sister and all the amazing things that she's done. I have cleared up with the fact that I don't think she's personally upset with me about that. Truthfully, I don't know why that bothers her."

As a lot of fans have speculated that there is an evident rift between the sisters especially after the comments Britney Spears has made and in return, Jamie Lynn Spears has made, Jamie believes that despite having a complicated relationship with her sister, there is no bad blood but only love. "That love is still there.100 percent. I love my sister. I've only ever loved and supported her and done what's right by her, and she knows that, so I don't know why we're in this position right now."

Jamie Lynn recently took to her social media to share, "And I may have to set the record straight to protect mine and my family's well-being. That being said, I hate to burst my sister's bubble, but my book is not about her. I can't help that I was born a Spears too, and that some of my experiences involve my sister." She lastly added, "It's time to put an end to the unhealthy chaos that has controlled my life for so long."

This comes after Britney Spears posted a lengthy dig at Jamie Lynn's interview after it was aired. Jamie Lynn also said in her post, "It's become exhausting when conversations, and texts we have in private don't match what you post on social media. I know you're going through a lot, and I never want to diminish that, but I also can't diminish myself. Quite frankly, the things being said are absolutely not the truth and I have to clarify that. Because now it's getting harder for me to rationalize to my oldest daughter why our family continues to get death threats, as result of [Britney's] accusatory and vague posts."
