Moon Knight has brought forward a never-seen-before face of MCU. The series' first season has to come to an end on an interesting point and has portrayed the story of a common man Marc Spector, played by Oscar Isaac, who has now turned into a superhero Moon Knight and hosts the power of the Egyptian god Khnoshu, voiced by F. Murray Abraham.

But that is not the most bizarre thing going on with Spector. Apart from hearing the voices of an Egyptian God, Spector is also suffering from a dissociative identity disorder. His primary alter is Steven Grant, also played by Isaac. Grant is a museum shop employee.

The problems increase manifold when Khonshu Arthur Harrow's former avatar, played by Ethan Hawke, comes forward with the idea of resurrecting Ammit, an Egyptian Goddess. The coming could mean destruction and devastation in the world and now it is up to Marc and Steven, the alters and Marc's separated wife Layla, played by May Calamawy, to stop the destruction.

Not only do they have to face the Godly powers but are also tasked to look deep into themselves and face their own dark secrets from the past.

The director of the series, Mohamed Diab, recently talked with Collider about creating the series and how they managed to bring the lore of the Egyptian myths into the series. He also talked about why Layla becoming a superhero was important and how it could help impact his country.

The superhero moments of Layla could be considered crucial for the culture along with the rest of the series and how it represents the country's myths.

Explaining what it was like to create Moon Knight, the executive producer of the show said that he is really happy about the fact that the series is just not any action flick. He explained that he was afraid of creating and producing his idea initially but now he is proud that the series has a deeper meaning and that the audience has connected with it.

The producer also explained that it makes him glad to know that he put the talent of Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke to the best use and that they are proud of the series too. Diabrevealed that Oscar was almost thinking of taking a break from big productions but ended up saying yes to Moon Knight out of his friendship with the director.

Needless to mention, bringing Egypt to such a vast scale of representation using Marvel and letting the world see into its magnificent glory was the best that came out of creating Moon Knit. The people of Egypt are extremely happy to see that the show is created using Egyptian nationals, both present in abundance in the crew and the cast.

This was the first time they got to see their nationals be presented on such a large screen, with their culture, music, and beauty appreciated, along with the people totally falling in life with the soundtrack.

Not only is it beautiful to see the history represented appropriately, but there is also the fact that their ethnic beauty shone beautifully through the cast chosen for the series. People who had always seen the western beauty standards glorified on the screen were now able to see people like their own selves celebrated and appreciated with all their ethnic characters.

The director also shared how Layla came out as a superhero in the series. The fact was well-guarded in all previous interviews as the team did not want any spoilers, but they had worked the idea of Layla also being an Egyptian superhero a long time ago into the script.

Layla herself was influenced by the fact that they wanted an Egyptian on the center screen and then the director and Sarah Goher nurtured the idea by providing story and character to the role that would be Layla, along with the writers who worked on her.

The producer stated that he can't remember who thought of actually making Layla a superhero, but that idea was truly phenomenal and they needed a female superhero like her. He did explain that the idea could have emerged anywhere around the collaborative writers, the Marvel execs, or maybe Kevin Fiege himself could have pitched it.

And yet, it was amazing to see her emerge as a superhero in episode 6 and add another gem to the gorgeous representation of Egyptian history in the series.

However, the superhero has not been officially named yet and the season creators are calling her Scarlet Scarab. There were hints about her identity throughout the series as the scarab imagery followed her, but the whole Scarab part of the story is not fully developed yet, they have decided to not make things official with the superhero name.

She could have just about any identity at the moment or if they planned to continue with Scarab, that too could be seen as a possibility for her identity. It is also important to mention that she has Tawaret speak in her so that is a possibility too.

Moon Knight is currently available to stream on Disney+.
