Camila Cabello opens up about how therapy changed her life.

During a recent chat with E! News’ Justin Sylvester, Camila Cabello shared how therapy has helped her to evolve as a person and when she finally acknowledged her challenges to seek help.

Camila Cabello shared that there was a time in her life when her anxiety was really bad and it made her feel like she could not go into the studio or work at all. But she pushed herself to go to work and be honest and be herself every single day. Whenever she avoided going to the studio or taking some time off working, waiting for her to feel better, she would just have a that paralyzing feeling that she did not like at all.

The singer, whose third studio album "Familia" releases on April 8th, credits therapy for helping her to get through tough times in her life, and no, we don’t mean the breakup with Shawn Mendes, but even before that. She added that her life was so painful and gloomy that if someone had asked her if eating shit off the ground would make her happy, she would have done that, but therapy has helped her to heal up, and it’s still a work in progress.

Camila told Justin Sylvester that people should understand that no one knows what is going on inside of an individual, and being on a platform where they are constantly being looked up to, it gets hard to even open up about it, but a lot of celebrities have tried and are trying to open up about their internal struggles, which could be helpful for their fans as well.

The singer, who recently detailed her body struggles while she was on the beach and how paparazzi have made her conscious about the way she looks in the pictures, said that she at times feels vulnerable and finds it very hard to talk about those things (probably the split from Shawn Mendes), but in therapy, she started to open up little by little. Other than her therapist, Camila seeks out help from her mother. Nikki Glaser also added that she could relate to Camila’s story and shared that she never got help until it got really bad for her and she was on the edge of seeking professional help.

This was not the first time Camila got candid about seeking therapy. She mentioned in one of her interviews that she and her then-boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, sought professional help for their issues and that had helped them communicate with each other in a better way. At the time, Camila shared that Shawn had grown to understand her actions and gestures so that whenever he saw her in a tough spot, he would always try to calm her down and ask her if she would like to talk about it.

During a previous interview, Camila also shared that the pandemic helped her to refocus on things that mattered to her as she got a chance to say no to things that were not good for her. The pause in her life with the pandemic helped her to seek help for which she is very grateful. Shawn Mendes also shared that Camila was very supportive of his decision to seek help and reminded him that she loves him no matter what. The couple leaned onto each other for support and comfort along with seeking professional help which was the right way to heal.

The couple announced their split after two years of dating, but according to sources, they have been on friendly terms as they have been friends for a long time. When Shawn Mendes released his latest song, "When You’re Gone," which he wrote about their breakup, he gave a heads-up to Camila about the song and shared that they are both writers, so they understand each other well.

Shawn Mendes also added in his interview that he is always going to be in love with Camila Cabello because he has known her for the longest and loved her for the longest and they have had an honest relationship. Their honesty with each other is why the singer said that he would never have released the song before she would have heard it. He also hinted that they could share a stage for their successful song "Señorita."

Talking about Camila's upcoming album, the singer shared during one of her interviews that while working on the album, she was in a shitty place, mental health-wise so she went to the studio had a good time, and felt safe and relaxed and slowly worked on her album. She added that compared to her previous album which had a lot of anxiety-induced in them, this one is going to be different showcasing her as a human being who is grounded and in a well-rounded space.

Camila Cabello recently teased a song with Willow Smith, 'Psycofreaks', and shared that the song is about the anxiety and all of the different things she has been through in her journey. She added that now she has very limited but positive people around her supporting her.

Camila's 12-track album features appearances from Willow Smith, Maria Becerra, and two Spanish-language songs. Rolling Stones describes her album as raw as Camila Cabello can be and explains that most of the songs are personal or inspired by the heartache and hardships she has faced including her Latin roots as well. The publication concluded that 'Familia' is an album about a woman artist who is ready to take the risks to find her voice.
