After stirring up the Internet with her stunning Balenciaga Fall 2022 skintight outfit at the Vanity Fair Oscars party hosted at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, Kim Kardashian is apologizing for her comments made during a Variety interview about working women.
Kim Kardashian, during her Variety cover story that she did with her sisters and mother about their upcoming new Hulu series "The Kardashians", said that she has the best advice for working women, which is to get their f******g asses up and work, and it was not taken very well by a lot of celebrities, working women, and fans.
While appearing for an interview on Good Morning America with co-anchor Robin Roberts that is scheduled to premiere in early April, the beauty mogul explained that her quote was taken out of context and she did not mean to hurt anyone’s sentiments. She said that the statement she made during the interview was without questions or conversation around it, and it exploded on the Internet without context.
Kim Kardashian, went ahead to explain that she was simply responding to a question that was asked of her and the notion that she has been in the industry for almost twenty years and is still regarded or described as "being famous for being famous". Kim added that she respects every woman who wakes up and shows up to work no matter what, and it was not a blanket statement towards anyone. She stated that she had no intention of disrespecting working women, but she was deeply sorry if it appeared that she had.
Kim Kardashian, who is now gearing up for "The Kardashians," shared that she wants the audience to understand that it takes more than just a reality show for an individual to be successful and gain the fame they want, and for that, one has to work hard every single day. She further explained during the interview that her tone and attitude changed with the question where she was asked what advice she would give to working women, and with that, she mentioned that just having a strong social media presence and being on a reality show is not going to get someone the success they desire.
Kim explained that she meant that women, or anyone who wants to reach a point in their life, have to work hard and show up every single day at work to be where they want to be. She also added that seeing the situation now, people can make a career out of social media too, but even that takes a lot of work, brainstorming, and a lot of work to have a strong and influential social media presence.
After Kim Kardashian quoted the advice about working women, she received a massive amount of backlash for being insensitive towards working women, and people pointed out that she was tone-deaf while saying it out loud, but forgot to consider that she was born into a charmed life. Actress Jameela Jamil shared on her social media an entire thread about how Kim’s words were insensitive and she should simply stop giving people advice on how to work. There were a lot of people who also pointed out that she has all the sources and that's why she is at a spot where she is speaking about working women but she shouldn't.
Kim Kardashian’s remark was met with heavy criticism at the 94th annual Academy Awards held on Sunday as well. Kim Kardashian, over the years, has worked hard and built up an empire through her various endeavors, which include SKIM, KKW beauty lines, and various collaboration deals with top-notch designers and brands. A source also mentioned that Kim respects women a lot, and the majority of her team includes women, and she has always expressed her gratitude towards them.
