Scarlett Johansson recently received an award for Best Female Movie Star for 2021 at the 2021 People's Choice Awards. The award ceremony was live-streamed from California on NBC and E! and was held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and was hosted by Kenan Thompson.

Scarlett Johansson was running against talented actresses including Awkwafina, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Hudson, Leslie Jones, Margot Robbie, Salma Hayek, and fellow co-star Florence Pugh. While accepting the award, Scarlett Johansson said, "Gosh, this is very exciting because it's the People's Choice Awards and that's who we make movies for. Ten-plus years ago, when I first started my journey with Marvel, I didn't know whether audiences would like my portrayal of this beloved character. I really do owe this all to you guys. I also have to mention the badass women that I worked with on this film: our filmmaker Kate Shoreland, our leader, my amazing co-stars Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz, and our producer Victoria Alonzo. Thank you guys so much. "

Talking about the actress, she was known to be the world's highest-paid actress in 2018 and 2019 and has managed to feature multiple times on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list. Scarlett is the recipient of various awards, which include a Tony Award, a British Academy Film Award, two Academy Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. She is one of the most famous and loved actresses in the industry across the world, and the first woman to be crowned Esquire’s "Sexiest Woman Alive."

Scarlett Johansson was honored with the 35th annual American Cinematheque Award for her exceptional contribution to the world of cinema by portraying iconic characters in movies like "The Avengers," "Lucy," "Don Jon," "Chef," "Jojo Rabbit," "Marriage Story," "Her," "Lost in Translation," etc. As American Cinematheque chair Rick Nicita said about the actress, "Whenever she graces the screen with her luminous presence, the audience knows that they will see a dedicated artist at the height of her powers. We can’t wait to share in the next phase of Scarlett Johansson’s marvelous career. "

The actress has ventured into different genres like action, romance, comedy, drama, sci-fi, action, thrillers, etc. Scarlett Johansson has also raised her voice against the gender pay gap, about which she has said, "I think every woman has been underpaid, but unless I'm addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious." Scarlett Johansson's standing up has helped a lot of actresses to speak up for their rights and ask for the pay they believe in.

The actress also served as a muse for Katy Perry’s song "I Kissed A Girl," which was released in 2008. Katy Perry revealed in Steppin’ Out magazine, "'I Kissed a Girl' was inspired when I opened up a magazine and I saw a picture of Scarlett Johansson". Scarlett, who was married to Ryan Reynolds at the time, acknowledged the comment and said, "That’s flattering, but my lips are kind of taken". The actress’ dedication towards playing a character can be seen in the fact that when she was finalized for the part of "Black Widow," she dyed her hair red and underwent stunt and strength training to convince Jon Favreau that she was the right person for the part. Speaking about her role in "Don Jon," Joseph Gordon-Levitt wrote the role specifically for the actress after she saw and admired her work.

Scarlett Johansson's voice, which is used in "HER", was considered to be "sweet, sexy, caring, manipulative, scary [and] award-worthy" by Peter Travers. Scarlett Johansson is courageous as she is not afraid to stand up for her earned respect. Black Widow was released on July 9th, 2021, and on July 29th, Scarlett Johansson sued Disney, stating the reason that its hybrid release strategy for Black Widow, the first standalone movie about the superhero and probably the last starring her, breached the terms of her contract. The lawsuit further claimed that the move allowed the studio to boost Disney+ subscriptions while also saving on box office bonuses that Johansson is rightfully due.

The lawsuit said, "Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel." The actress alleged that Disney’s decision to release the movie in the current environment robbed her of $50 million in box office bonuses. Jamie Lee Curtis shared that she was asked to write about her in "Time Magazine", where she mentioned that she always thought she was cool and what she was doing and saying in terms of her lawsuit was important. Jamie Lee Curtis wrote, "And women who speak up are called ‘bitches’ and 'strident', and men who speak up are called ‘heroes.’ So I’m going to stand with the women. She had a brilliant response to a real-life swindle... when she filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the studio [Disney], alleging that its decision to release the film simultaneously in theaters and on streaming cost her significant pay losses."

Jamie added, "Whether as an assassin with a conscience, an actor with an emotional center or, having just given birth to her second child, a fierce mother, the message is clear: Don’t f-ok with this mama bear." Later, the actress shared that the lawsuit between her and Disney had been settled, "I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come. Other than her work, Scarlett Johansson was the first one to arrive at the Met Gala of 2018 in a burgundy gown custom-made by Marchesa, Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife's label after which many people questioned why the actress, an ardent supporter of both #MeToo and Time's Up, decided to publicly support Chapman's designs. The actress said, "I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful, and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers."

With such a fearless attitude and a broad approach towards characters, along with having the courage to stand up for herself, she truly stands out on the list of talented and influential actresses. Sure, the other actresses are also talented and exceptional in their work, but ScarJo certainly stands out as the best of the lot.

Congratulations Scarlett Johansson
