Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonnet announced their split a few days ago and their breakup came as a shock to the fans but according to sources near to the couple, the decision of splitting up did not happen ‘overnight’.
The source near to the couple shared, "They have grown apart because of different focuses. A few years ago, Jason was struggling to find work. Now his career is booming. And he wants to keep working as much as he can." Talking about Lisa Bonet who ‘had no interest in joining’ Jason Momoa on the locations or sets of his shooting as she enjoys her life in Los Angeles. A source shared with US Magazine, “That energy really started to cause friction because they wanted to live different lives. Jason wanted to travel and adventure much more. Lisa, she would rather read, write poetry and cook at home.”
The source added that the distance between them had a huge impact on their marriage and it eventually did take a tool on it to a level that they decided to split up. "For some people, it might strengthen their marriage. For Lisa and Jason's marriage, being apart has been a disaster”, the source added. According to reports, even though the decision is huge and is going to impact the couple they are ‘mature’ and ‘will keep the peace for the sake of their children.

"It's not going to be some scandalous divorce where they trash talk each other. They are both very spiritual and believe in a higher power,” the source shared. Jason Momoa is gearing up for ‘Aquaman 2’, and a source close to the actor shared, “Jason and Lisa worked because they were so different. He was jovial, loud and the center of attention, and Lisa was always cool, calm and subdued.” The couple has been doing things separately for a while but they deeply care about each other, shared an insider adding, "They were a great couple with a lot of love and respect for each other, but people change and goals change and they weren't the same together anymore."
Jason Momoa was recently spotted in Los Angeles post the announcement of the split. He was spotted wearing a black T-shirt and jeans with a mask and hat on but there was no wedding ring seen as he carried a cardboard box outside of a grocery store.

The couple announced their breakup after 16 years of togetherness via social media (now-deleted post) and wrote, “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The couple started dating in 2004 and got married in 2017 October. Jason and Lisa welcomed their daughter Lola in 2007 and son Nakoa-Wolf in 2008, Lisa also shares daughter Zoe Kravitz with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.
