If you loved Dune, you are in for good news!

The film's director shared recently that the franchise is ready for the Dune Sequel. In fact, the movie is already in the preparation stage

The Dune: Part Two is in production and is expected to release in the US theaters by October 2023. The directorial credits will be due for Denis Villeneuve

In an interview with Collider he shared that the film is almost done where the prep is concerned, and the screenplay is also done for the sequel. The film has enjoyed a two-year production window interval since the making of Dune 1, and hence, it has had sufficient time to prepare for the next blockbuster film.

Part Two was announced just by the end of last year and the film already being done with its prep gives fans hope for the film to come to screens next year. The first film in the series, Dune, has already enjoyed immense success and was a hit at the box office.

Though now fans are expecting much greater things from the director, the team faced only as much pressure for shooting the second film as it did during the first production. Needless to say, people can only hope that Dune: Part Two is even more exciting than its predecessor.

Previously Dune fandom consisted of the readers of the book who have read the famous book on a space-faring community by author Frank Herbert. The 1965 epic was first translated to work on screen in 1984.

The first film had hence stood up to the expectations of the previously built fandom. Yet the latest film released in 2021 has only further expanded the fanbase of the movie, creating a lot more pressure for the filmmaker to make a sequel to the original story.

The first film in the franchise starred big-name actors like Oscar Isaac, Timothee Chalamet, and Zendaya as the lead characters.

Explaining how he perceives the differences between shooting the first and now working on the next film, the director of Dune, Villeneuve, shared that the first film was a careful dip in the pool to see what the fans would like.

Hence, they launched the film to see how it was received by the audience. However, with the second film, the team has decided to lay an end to the story as created by the Dune book and expand on a new horizon.

Therefore the second book will not expand on many aspects as shown in Dune 2021. Needless to say, the filmmaker has received much more pressure as they prepared for the second film in many ways.

The director also explained who is in control of creating the storyline and the production of the second film. He revealed that the script is presently in his control and he is presently working on it and will continue editing it as he continues working on the film.

The film is hence expected to remain in a continuous cycle of expansion and editing until the film reaches its final cut.

The good news for the eager fans is that the film is already done with its screenplay. Even though most of the aspects are still in progress, fans can expect to see some stills from the movie by the end of 2022.

The film is set for an early release, the script is ready to work on and the production of the film and the sets is already underway!

Dune 2021 has managed to sweep various award competitions and scored a big-time at this year's Oscar nominations. The film received nods for various categories including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and of course, Best Picture and more.

The crew of the film is hence working to create a similar film as revealed by Villeneuve and though the crew is presently scattered to celebrate their various award season nominations, they will soon come together for the film. The director is also finding himself divided as he receives his award nominations and works on the film's sequence at the same time.

Needless to say, he is extremely happy with the way things have turned out and is not complaining.

One major aspect of Dune which made it such a great movie to watch was the use of IMAX technology. The tech helped add finesse to the scale of the production of the film, helping achieve a precise scale of the planet on which the film takes place.

Dune being a story happening on the sand planet of Arrakis, the IMAX tech was able to nicely capture the gigantic dunes of the desert along with drawing attention to the unforgiving landscape of the planet.

The second film of the series will also use the same IMAX technology and the director has shared that he and cinematographer Greig Fraser are in "love" with the way the tech brings out the shooting format.

As the second film will also continue the story on the same desert planet of Arakkis, there will again be a lot of scenes of the vast, majestic, and blowing sands of the place. The best way to experience the film will be again IMAX screens to catch the full sweep of the shots.
