Alumni of Bachelor Nation, the connection between Tyler Cameron and Matt James predates their roles as contestants on the Bachelor series; the two met as students at Wake Forest University and while living together in New York City, where they formed the nonprofit ABC Food Tours.
About Bachelor Nation, Tyler Cameron participated in Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette which aired in 2019, and was one of the final two suitors. Andrea Hermann Cameron, Tyler Cameron's mother who passed away in 2020 nominated Matt James for the lead on The Bachelor which Matt James admitted while speaking to Ryan Seacrest last year and said that Tyler's mother saw how much Tyler grew as a man when he went on the show so maybe she wanted the same thing for him as well. Matt James said that it was like paying homage to Ms. Cameron.
Matt James' season of The Bachelor aired in 2021 and he gave the final rose to Rachael Kirkconnell, but it was reported that the couple broke up a few months after Rachael was caught up in the controversy related to her attending an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity formal in 2018 resurfaced online. But the couple rekindled their romance and Rachael apologized for the pictures in February 2021. Matt James clarified a few weeks ago that the couple are going strong and are happy.
Tyler Cameron told E! News that they are friends, it’s just Matt James is busy with his stuff and he is busy with his own stuff. He added that individuals who get into relationships, their priorities change, which is all part of maturing and growing up and focusing on oneself, career and relationships. The question comes after it was rumored that maybe Tyler Cameron and Matt James are not really friends anymore.
In May, Matt James appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where he admitted that Tyler Cameron and Rachael Kirkconnell have a love-hate relationship. To which Tyler said to E! that Rachael Kirkconnell is great and makes Matt James happy adding that they are happy.
Tyler continued that it is entertaining to observe what they are up to since they seem to be on the go all the time. Regarding Matt James' remark that he and Rachael had a love-hate relationship, Tyler said that perhaps their disagreements are simply the result of their divergent perspectives and strong beliefs and concluded that in the end, we're all laid back. It is what it is, you know.
Regarding Tyler, who is said to be dating model Paige Lorenze, noted that he is continuously growing and learning about himself. Tyler said that he is seeing someone at the moment and without naming the person said that it's new, it's exciting, and it's a lot before he went onto explain that relationships need a lot of understanding and learning, and we're now going through it. The reality star said that It's been fantastic and although it has been enjoyable so far, the two will continue to see how things develop.
The reality personality has recently joined forces with the Not Done Yet Marathon Team, which allows three runners who have previously failed to finish their marathons a second opportunity to complete the 26.2 miles in the San Francisco Marathon. A marathon, according to Tyler, is no easy task. His objective is to assist Sagirah, Michael, and Ashley in crossing the finish line because it's a fantastic accomplishment.
As part of his promotion for the squad, Tyler told E! News about the runners and said that they're feeling confident about themselves, so he is interested to see, you know, how they feel mentioning that he simply advised them to keep things as they are. He just guides them to keep doing everything they've been doing all along, including running and eating, to get to this stage. Like, all the work has already been done. It's time to get to the starting gate right now. Tyler said that he shared with them that they can handle this, so don't question themselves and since self-doubt is a major factor in the marathon, Degree deodorant created the Not Done Yet Team to encourage participants to push over their doubts, continue running, and eventually break those barriers down.
Matt James is yet to comment on the situation of their friendship.
