The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are all set to be held on May 15th, 2022 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday and will be live streamed on Peacock. SeanDiddyCombs is all set to host the show who is also the executive producer of the show, along with Robert Deaton

Diddy announced the show earlier on social media and expressed his excitement to host it. He wrote that he is the host with the most since he is the executive producer who calls all the shots and compared himself to P.T. Barnum's ringmaster. The presenter went on to say that no party compares to Diddy's, and that everyone will show up with one of the most interesting lineups in music history, as well as one of the most contentious hosts in music history, him! Just a few days before the event, the organizers have decided to make a quick change in their performers list.

The Billboard Music Awards recently took to their official social media account to announce that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have decided to drop out from performing at the ceremony due to unforeseen circumstances, and thus they have added Machine Gun Kelly and Dan + Shay as the new performers for the ceremony.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards was supposed to be their first performance at the Billboard Music Awards since 1999 when they performed at the ceremony with Snoop Dogg. But unfortunately the group has decided to drop out from performing.

Machine Gun Kelly is also nominated under the category of Top Rock Artist, and Dan + Shay, who previously performed at the event in 2019 with Tori Kelly, are also nominated under the category of Top Country Duo/Group. This is going to be Machine Gun Kelly’s debut performance at the Billboard Music Awards. The rapper turned rock artist entered the Billboard 200 at Number 1 last month with his recently released album, Mainstream Sellout, and has already won the award for Top Rock Artist last year along with top rock album for 2020's Tickets to My Downfall.

Other performers at the ceremony include Megan Thee Stallion, Becky G, Rauw Alejandro, Florence + The Machine, Miranda Lambert, Elle King, Mary J. Blige, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran etc. It was revealed that Sean Diddy Combs who took to his social media to share with his fans and followers that he made a request and demanded NBC to give a spot to Travis Scott to perform, which the network approved.

Performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2022 is going to be Travis Scott’s first televised performance after the Astroworld tragedy in November. Diddy appeared ecstatic that his request had been granted and that Travis Scott will be performing at the occasion. Diddy stated in an interview with Revolt Black News that Travis Scott should be forgiven.

Diddy stated that no musicians will be canceled under his watch and that love is about forgiving, which is why he required Travis Scott to play at the event, and that it will be a good night. Travis Scott previously played with Migos rapper Quavo at the Miami Grand Prix weekend, E11Even Miami, and a private event outside of Coachella.

Following the Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott has kept a relatively low profile but looks like he’ll be returning to the limelight. Apart from Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen is also going to perform for the first time at the event following the backlash he received in February 2021 when he was heard using the N-word.

According to the MRC Live and Alternative, which is part of the MRC that goes on to produce the Billboard Music Awards and various other award ceremonies stated that the decision to have Morgan Wallen perform at the event being held on Sunday was made after a "thorough evaluation".

In a statement to Billboard, MRC added that they strictly oppose any form of discrimination, harassment, or racism as they believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. The statement further said that after a thorough evaluation, they extended an invitation to Morgan Wallen to join this year's show. They mentioned that there were extensive discussions with the artist's team, during which they discovered that the artist had demonstrated an ongoing dedication to meaningful work and outreach.

Mary J. Blige is all set to receive the Billboard Icon Award and perform live on stage. The third annual Billboard Music Award Changemaker Award will go to Mari Copeny, a 14-year-old environmental justice activist.
