Patricia Allison is moving on from Sex Education.

Actress Patricia Allison, who portrays the character of Ola on Netflix’s "Sex Education," is going to say goodbye to the show to move on to different things in terms of work.

During a recent appearance on the U.K.’s radio show ‘Breakfast With Yinka and Shayna Marie’, the actress revealed that she has loved every second of the time she has spent on the sets of Sex Education, but unfortunately she won’t be reprising the role of Ola for season four.

Patricia Allison mentioned that the decision is tough but some other opportunities came up and she has been playing Ola for almost three years and genuinely loved it, but now maybe she should try out different things. On asking more about her decision, she clarified that deciding to leave was tough for her, but there had been new opportunities on her way and she had to bid adieu to her character at some point, which she said is sad but also makes room for new things to come.

In season three, Patricia Allison’s character Ola was going through a rough patch with her girlfriend Lily, but with some work from both ends, the duo made it through but now since Ola is not coming back, it would be interesting to see how their relationship work out.

Not just Patricia Allison is departing Sex Education before the fourth season. Due to her work on the most recent and next seasons of Bridgerton, where she plays the character of Kate Sharma, Simone Ashley, who portrayed Olivia in the series, has also stated that she won't be returning for season four. In the third season of the show, Bridgerton, she will concentrate on playing Kate.

Ncuti Gatwa, who plays a popular character of Eric, Otis' best friend was recently named the next Doctor in Doctor Who, who can also experience some scheduling issues in the future but nothing official has been stated. The next Barbie film, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Ryan Reynolds and Margot Robbie, will also include Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey. Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve on the show, hinted in September 2021 that her time might be coming to an end on the show.

Emma said that Sex Education is so momentous as a concept and as a show and the people who work on it are phenomenal. She cares about each one of them a lot and they are good friends, but also added that she can’t play a 17-year-old all her life. As of now, there has not been any confirmation of Emma’s time coming to an end.

It will be tricky to understand how Sex Education season 4 can continue in the same vein if some of its fan-favorite performers don't return for more hormone-induced antics. But it should be known that some of the actors who started their careers with Sex Education have had the opportunity to explore other things as well so they hopped on it. Although Asa Butterfield who plays Otis and Gillian Anderson who plays Jean on-screen who is also Otis' mother, were already known actors when the show's Netflix debut in 2019.

Quick recap to the season finale of Sex Education season 3, Otis and Maeve ultimately get together before breaking up as Maeve departs for the US for a study program during the summer, closing another chapter in their will-they-won't-they romance. Therefore, Season 4 will probably look into whether or not separation has made either of their hearts grow fonder.

In another scene from the season 3 finale, Eric and Adam's part ways because Eric finds it difficult to be in a committed relationship with someone who doesn't accept them for who they are. Additionally, Jean experiences a hemorrhage during delivery and delivers birth before recovering from surgery. In season 4, we'll likely witness the effects of the paternity test result since she also receives the results.

And in a development that is likely to be the major story element of the upcoming season, Moordale Secondary pupils learn that their school is being sold to developers and are instructed to find alternate arrangements to complete their studies. No more updates have been announced.
