After stirring up the internet with her comments on Holocaust, Whoopi Goldberg is not only facing backlash from the audience but also from her co-hosts who believe that she went a little too far with her comments.

On Monday’s episode of ‘The View’, Whoopi said that the Holocaust was ‘not about race’ and claimed that Nazis and Jews were both white. She went on to clarify her statement at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, which was filmed before but aired after she took to her Twitter to apologize for the comments she made. Whoopi’s co-host also interjected and disagreed with her comments and mentioned, “Well, it’s about white supremacy. That’s what it’s about. It’s about going after Jews and Gypsies.”

An insider from the ABC shared with Page Six, “ABC staffers and Disney Network execs are saying Whoopi went way too far. And board members are not happy with her apology and want a fuller retraction. The word is that Whoopi is in ‘deep s–t’. Why does Whoopi seemingly get a pass when others don’t? Perhaps this time she won’t. Many at the network — including her fellow hosts — believe Whoopi is too controversial now for the show.”

The source also claimed that Joy Behar was heard saying that Whoopi went too far and ‘dead wrong’ with her comment and may not ever recover from this. According to reports, her agents were also panicking after they heard about the backlash and stated that she might have ruined herself with the comments.

Liora Rez, Executive director of Watchdog group StopAntisemitism called out Whoopi and said her comments were, ‘reprehensible’. She said, “I am the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors on both sides of my family. To say that the Holocaust was not about race when everything the Nazis did was to ensure the purity of the Aryan race is blatantly untrue, and it is reprehensible. Six million Jews were gassed, starved and massacred because we were deemed an inferior race. For Goldberg to minimize our trauma and suffering by claiming we are from a privileged class is the epitome of whitewashing and gaslighting Jews, and it needs to stop.”

Piers Morgan also tweeted, “WTF? This is insane. The extermination of 6 million Jews wasn’t about race??? Will any rock stars or renegade royals now boycott Whoopi Goldberg and/or ABC for this dangerous misinformation?” He later tweeted, Sharon Osbourne was fired from The Talk for defending me against a fake charge of racism. Whoopi Goldberg said on The View yesterday that the Holocaust ‘wasn’t about race’, which for Jewish people is about as racist a comment as anyone could make. Bet she doesn’t lose her job.” Piers continued, “Yes, but Sharon Osbourne didn’t do or say anything wrong, was bullied into numerous apologies, and still got fired for defending me over false racism claims. Just as I got forced out of my job for refusing to believe Meghan Markle’s lies. The double standard is laughable."

Perez Hilton wrote, “I love Whoopi Goldberg, but this take of hers on the Nazis and the Holocaust is… not it. Her The View cohosts were trying to guide her out of this hole. She just dug in even deeper!"

But now the news has arrived that ABC has suspended Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks as the co-host of The View’ because of her ‘wrong and hurtful comments about the Jews and the Holocaust.' Kim Godwin, President ABC News said in a statement, “While Whoopi has apologized, I've asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”

According to reports, The View has been encouraged to add Jewish voices to their discussion panel after the blunder Whoopi Goldberg’s comments made. Although she did apologize on The View for her comments but will be on a two-week suspension. The View did invite Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League to discuss not only the comment but also to explain why it hurt a lot of people.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper also shared that even though he has much regard for Whoopi Goldberg for standing up and speaking up on social issues but with Holocaust comment, he failed to understand her view. He said, “The only explanation that I have for it is that there is a new definition of racism that has been put out there in the public recently that defines racism exclusively as the targeting of people of color. And obviously, history teaches us otherwise. Everything about Nazi Germany and about the targeting of the Jews and about the Holocaust was about race and racism. That's the unfortunate, unassailable historic fact.”

Former ‘The View’ hots Meghan McCain said in her column for Daily Mail, "I hope this can be used as a teachable moment to explain to millions of Americans why conflating the Holocaust as something that is specific and limited to 'white people' is insane, ahistorical and anti-Semitic. For as much as the left is fond of using Nazi comparisons and imagery, the truth of the Holocaust, who is targeted and why, deserves to be known and understood by all."
