Halsey clarifies the former Nanny’s lawsuit.

Ashley Funches, Halsey's former nanny, filed a lawsuit against the singer, alleging that she was unlawfully fired, and now Halsey is stepping out to clarify what happened. In July of last year, Halsey and Alev Aydin had their son Ender, and Ashley Funches was recruited as a live-in babysitter, but she was asked to leave in March.

Ashley Funches claims in her complaint that Halsey dismissed her after she took time off for a medical issue. According to the complaint, throughout her job, Ashley Funches worked tirelessly on days in a row with little to no day off, and in October 2021, she began to complain to the singer about her excessive work hours and lack of overtime pay. Ashley said she was employed by Halsey for caring for her baby boy, making his meals, cleaning, laundry, cleaning the breast pump components, as well as organizing the nursery, and doing some extra errands if needed, according to the publication HITC.

The lawsuit documents mention that the nanny was paid a $5,000 one-time payment for her accumulated over time but was not offered an explanation about how the lump sum payment was compensated for her and the overtime hours to date. She also claimed that when she reached out to Halsey in March 2022 asking for some leave as she had a medical procedure, Ashley Funches said that she was terminated a few days later without any warning or response.

In the case, Ashley Funches claims that her dismissal was intentional, cold, callous, dishonest, and malicious in order to hurt and destroy the nanny with a knowing disdain for her rights. According to the filings, Ashley Funches has suffered and continues to suffer considerable damages connected to the use and enjoyment of such payments, as well as a loss of interest in such income, as a result of her job termination.

Halsey, who decided to speak up and clarify the rumors, denied all the allegations via a statement and said that Ashley Funches claims were baseless and she was terminated from her job because of specific incidents like when her child was left unsupervised in an unsafe location while under Ashley Funches’ care. The nanny was intoxicated when the infant was in her care, according to the statement, which is one of the reasons she was dismissed from her job, which was to care for the baby.

The singer’s statement also dwelled upon Ashley Funches’ claims of not being paid for her overtime hours, to which the statement read that at no time during the nanny's term of employment with Halsey any complaints were raised. The singer is unhappy and dismayed that things have turned sour in this way, according to the statement, but they believe it is vital to openly reject these charges because she is a loud campaigner against ableism and ethical working conditions. She wants to be clear that they will keep speaking out against ableism and for ethical working conditions.

Halsey recently opened up about her health issues and mentioned that she had been sick for a long time and now they have their names. She said that when she was not working, she was confined to her house for the feat of how she’d feel when she woke up each morning. It took her a long time to even get diagnosed, and now when she knows what she suffers from, she is celebrating and urged people not to roll their eyes at their sick friends because they could be fighting a battle that does not have a name yet.
